I'm back! Kinda.... Here is a 5 minute volcano I just made... (well part) I think it's kinda bare but if there is something you guys want to point out go ahead and tell me! :)

the main idea is quite alright. It's just that the shapes and detailing are a bit awkward.. You should definately try to use a bit more RAW and look at how others use details etc.

the main thing is good...
a tip: dont use 5 different groundfloors and try to use more RAW and less doodad+terrain palette.. also read some tutorials
Good luck

Thanks everyone, as soon as I can picture something I want to map I'll get some more up here :)

Here's something I just got done finishing, please give any feedback and opinions on it! Thanks!

The thick grass borders over grass looks plain ugly, and should be used rarely, in very small amounts (four corners).

Also some swamp grass would add to the details that you seem to be missing.

Hmmm, here's an idea of inspiration I know you've touched on last year bro. Try n do it but this time with a lil more detail, and a bit more of a lush type forest/swamp

Giant Waterfall (Leading into a Monsters Cave)

Your work isn't too bad, it just requires more attention to tiny perhaps small objects like borders.
Your's,
Jason (Desilus/Valius)

What the hell are you talking about, this piece has 10x the potential than those other images.

Here's some real advice:

1. House:
i) The details are wrong. You need interior, not exterior.
ii) Add multiple rooms, don't make the house so square.
iii) Show multiple floors of the house. Make it unique!

2. Trees and Bushes:
i) Use less trees, more bushes
ii) Bushes should be in 2s or 3s, even more. Vary between 2 of one type and one of the other.
iii) For ever 3-5 bushes place 1 tree to cover as much area as possible.
iv) If you are going to add flowers, spread them out.

3. Grass tufts:
i) Use the 3 smallest, use the 2 smallest often, with the third smallest sparsely.
ii) Lots of grass tuft, grass tufts are good. Even on dirt.

4. Dirt:
i) More random shapes with borders, also overlap dirt borders onto grass.
ii) There are some grounds in raw that add details to brown dirt (ids 804, 280 and 368)
iii) Mushrooms on dirt

Hope that helps,
Leftwing

Thanks Leftwing and will do, Hopefully my RME will work at Job Corps or I'm going to have to ask a friend to download it on his pc and send me the file via email, I'll see what else I make here soon... I'm going to look at my old maps to see how they where done and see if I can make it look like that again, the reason it was a small one story house was because it was an abbandoned cottage that's been left unattended for along time... But I will follow your advice guys and make something great. :)

I want to see you go back and redo that piece, simply because I believe your almost ready to move up a level in terms of mapping.

The only reason I took the time to write out some advice was because you are one, if not the only active mapper who is between the stages of "almost making proper maps" and "making those maps well". This advice would make that piece go from a 100x EXP server to a showoff piece if mapped correctly.
