Hello,
So I started playing with OT's about a week ago now. I've been running into a lot of the same issues that I've seen posted here and have finally figured out one that's been causing me much grief. Now that I've successfully solved this problem, and verified what the cause is/was, I thought I would share with the rest of you.
My largest headache thus far: WARNING: Could not load spawn data.
What I was doing: I admit, I rushed into this and wanted to just get an RL map going to play with friends locally. So I downloaded a few free server downloads and started creating my frankenstein of a server. Started throwing in anything that sounded cool or looked good.
Onto the problem: It turns out that I had used a mods folder from one of the servers I downloaded that contained a few custom monsters. I didn't realize this for a while, but when I finally did, I jumped back into Remere's map editor and searched for some of those custom monsters, and low and behold, I couldn't find them.
Conclusion: If your spawns.xml will not load into Remere's, check your files for custom monsters. If you DO have custom monsters, this is probably your problem, and you can open your spawns.xml, use CTRL + F and search for lines with the custom monsters in it, then delete those lines of code(be careful to not delete other, or portions, of other lines of code). Once you've deleted all the custom monster spawns, you should be able to save the spawns.xml and it should load into Remere's and your server with no problems.
Hope this relieves some headache for someone else on down the lines.
