I wonder, wich Operating system is the best for to host an OTserver on:thumbup:

RAM:3.5GB
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 [2.6GHZ]

If you say linux could you also tell me what benefits it has and etc...

20 minutes? It's not enough to learn anything!

@Topic

I'd use Linux. If you're beginner, I'd pick Ubuntu.

Linux no hesitations.

But you must take some time to learn the basics and know what you're doing, its not for people that cant stand taking more than 20 minutes to learn about it :rolleyes: If you cant take longer than 20 mins to learn then go back to winblows (windows) and good luck with it, but Linux is way more stable, convenient & safer after you learn about it.

Im guessing thats why most (and the best) dedicated servers you can rent are hosted on Linux.

As Saint said, Ubuntu is great if you're starting out, but Ive heard the best for hosting would be CentOS or maybe Debian. Better wait for a pr0's response for this :thumbup: But thats just my opinion, I use Ubuntu Studio anyways since I dont host on my computer.

Good luck.

Linux is so got damn complicated xd is the new "windows 7" stable to host an otserver on.

& If you have like windows/linux and you have an 64x Processcor should i use the 64x OS then?

I have question - when will server come back??? Can someone tell me time?

What the hell are you talking about? lol.

Read the thread, also this is not a particular server's forum.

@Saint:

Well Ive heard that the only windows thats as stable as Linux when it comes to hosting servers is windows 2003 R2 or something like that, havent heard from the one(s) you mention.

But even being as stable, Id still choose Linux for hosting (personal preference), most people does too but then the real reasons behind that would need to be more explained by someone else than me as Im just speaking from my personal experience and opinion, not generally.

Cheers.

Yeah but i tried linux today on my comp i mean like(excuse me for beeing such a noob xD). How do i open rarfiles. & so on since Linux is so far more complicated then Windows & others.

Betweem Windows 7 is the newest windows released it's still in beta i've tried it out and it's great & simple. They made it since many complained about vista. Windows 7 is 1000 more times stable then all vista version. But since you say Linux it's so good i'll give it a try again and force me to learn it xD since i hate learning Complicated stuffs. :)
