I'm curious about whats the negative / positive about to host on Windows or Linux.

Like stability, security.

Linux beats Windows in all categories. Windows is the only environment to play in games and use some apps and I don't recommend this system for hosting.

It hurts me a lot to have to agree with sn3ejk. The only reason I use Windows is to play video games, and to emulate nintendo Wii, if Linux had the same performance in gaming compared to Windows, and the ability to natively run games without the need to emulation, I would be using Linux. Trust me, I would.

Linux have better Gaming performance then windows lol

Only that devs does not develop their applications for it.

You can for example run World of Warcraft though Wine and get better performance then on windows.

Also steam is released on Linux now and the games they have converted to linux platform perform 20-50% better (FPS).

Yup, probably OpenGL has got same parameters like DirectX.

Was a while ago since i read OpenGL vs DX

and as i understand, OpenGL actually perfomes better then DX. (Dunno if this still is true)
And you can use OpenGL on both Windows and Linux :p

Nintendo Wii Emulation Performance Comparision (Made by myself):

Ubuntu -> Default Settings (OpenGL / Max FPS 95)
Windows -> Default Settings (OpenGL / Max FPS 145)
Windows -> Default Settings (DirectX 9.0 / Max FPS 275)

Intel i5 3570k @ 3.8 Ghz
HD 6670 GDDR5 1GB
HD 1080p LG Flatron
8GB GDDR3 1600 Mhz

Using Dolphin emulator.
You should know that Dolphin Emulator is 600% more CPU intensive than GPU, Ubuntu is bottlenecking my cpu, while Windows runs perfectly fine.
