you should be nicer to your friend
turn off shading (q), special (e), spawns (s), and houses (ctrl+h), and don't zoom out (ctrl+mouse 3)
all of those put together make maps look really ugly and overcrowded

also, is the river in the first image missing water tiles?
 
the second picture has pretty much every item in the game. a bit overspammed, try keeping it more simple. Also i'm not a big fan of the ground mix, make it looks a bit messy
 
Way better than the first few shit pics. But they still lack some detail. I'd place some small stones and debris and on the small garden in the town some grass tuffts and perhaps a flower
