botting is allowed in this server? if so i'm not even going to try it :s
Botting is allowed on every game currently released on the PC right now so don't bother trying any of them, just go back to rl and drink a milkshake because its hot today!
Before someone tries to flame this response let me explain a few things...
Part 1, the botters:
Game companies have been trying to fight botting for quite some time now using complex algorithms to detect repetitive movement and other stuff. This information takes time to collect and once it is collected and confirmed they flag your account. This process can take anywhere from 1 week to 1 month and after that time they will issue a huge wave of bans to everyone they have flagged. What this means is that for that 1 week-1 month there is a huge plethora of bots running around flooding the markets with gold. Now you might be saying at this point "well after that week the bots are gone!" that is actually not the case because most of these gold farmers are preparing new bots to run after the next ban wave anyway. Even in a pay to play game where it costs upwards of $15 a month and $50 for the game itself. What you have to realize is that each account that has paid $60-80 for the game has made well over $500 in profit. Multiply that amount by anywhere between 10-100 and you can see that even the most amateur gold farmer is making more than enough money to pay for new accounts after each ban wave.
Part 2, the impossible solution:
The only way a game company could fight bots would be to come up with the ultimate detection tool that flags a botter instantly and bans them on the spot. The reason this isn't done is because it is EXTREMELY difficult and ultimately very easy to crack. The people who make bots are very intelligent people and use many tactics to get around detection, by using a delayed ban system it makes it very difficult for bot developers to figure out what exactly caused their product to become "detected". If a company were to make it ban the account instantly these developers could just run test after test until they perfect it, and then release the bot to everyone once it is undetected. Think of it like driving without a licenses, its not a matter of "if you are caught" but a matter of "when will you be caught" and it works both ways. Not IF but WHEN the botters bypass the detection methods and not IF but WHEN they are detected and banned.
Part 3, this server and the current solution:
So basically my point is that, even if botting is not allowed people are still going to do it. And if botting is not allowed then only the few lucky (or smart) botters will get away with it and thus have an advantage over the rest of the community who are either unskilled at botting or is just trying to be respectful of the rules. What we did in this server is make afk botting for long periods of time extremely difficult and require the player to be active. This means that you can use a bot for all kinds of cool things and not worry about getting banned, but you cant use the bot to power level 24/7 past the entire community and destroy everyone. Players found to be cheating the afk system will not receive a ban, their entire account will be locked indefinitely.
