Hello folks! Finally I'm glad to announce re-launch of my favorite server, Ascalon!
Server will be online since 25 Oct 2013!
Ascalon is a custom RPG server with medium exp-rates. We use custom experience formulas which allow you to gain levels quickly but still require you to put some effort into leveling. Our map is fully custom and detailed. Many secrets await to be discovered by players of all levels.
This server was already online around one year ago and it was online for six months. However, it was later closed and abandoned for a couple of months. Now I'm fully back to it's development and I hope that this time it will stay online even longer. A lot of progress has been made since Ascalon's first release and I worked hard for the last few months to make it even better.

  • Exp rate: The experience table has been completely changed and you need much less total experience to advance to next levels, but overall it can be compared to a ~25x Tibia server. Exp-rate makes your first levels fast and easy to get, but with time its getting harder and harder. Thats makes you join the server much quicker, but high levels will still be hard to get.
  • Map: Our map is custom made and pretty detailed. It contains huge, well-planed main city and lots of hunting grounds and quests around.
  • Server type: It's really hard to put this server into one category, we tried to include something for every player. Server has enough PvP features to be a PvP server, but it also requires a lot of exploring as in RPG servers.

There are no AoLs(amulets of loss) ingame, normal players have chance to drop any item from their inventory upon death. However you can never drop your backpack as we noticed that dropping it causes a lot of frustration among players. Players are able to buy blessings which lower chances to drop an item. Red and Black skulled players lose one random item from their inventory, no matter what. Black skulled palyers receive additional damage from other players.

Monsters are fully custom and their difficulty had been changed. All monsters have their own level, based on monster type. There is also a chance for a stronger level monsters to spawn, which is stronger than normal monster of such type, but also has a better drop chance.

While rotworms still are something you kill right after joining the game, killing a giant hammerman(cyclop smith) may be a challenge even for quite experienced explorers. But do not worry! To get an edge against the tough monsters, you can use a vast amount of spells and all of them are custom aswell! This gives you an unique feeling while going on a hunt or trying to complete a quest. Right, quests! There are tons of them, spread all over the map.

Items on Ascalon are totally custom and unique. All items are divided onto groups, grades specifically. As your character advances, you will be able to obtain items with higher grade. The basic equipment stats are armor and resist. Armor protects you against physical damage, resist decreases damage done by magic. Upgraded items can have more benefits. Yes! You heard that right, upgraded items! Every item can be upgraded with special magic gems. Each upgrade adds additional stats to the item. Ability stones can be rarely looted from monsters, they are also obtainable through quests. When used on a piece of equipment, a Ability Stone has a chance to enchant your piece of equipment with a random attribute or incase item is already enchanted, increase its quality. It is however, possible for the Ability Stone to break. There are dozen of abilities every character can use.

As promised, short overview of changes since last season =)

  • As everyone already noticed, we've reworked our webpage to make it look better and more clear.
  • Custom client - yes. Since now, you can fully enjoy Ascalon only by using our client, packed with a lot of new graphics which are actively used all around. No more 'leather helmet as grade 4 item'.
  • Fundamental remake of items, magic gems, ability stones. Forget how you played Ascalon for the first time, we've made a lot of conclusions after first season, and decided that those changes are necessary. As of now items do not have slots anymore, you can't choose which bonuses you have in your items. Every looted item has a small chance to be magic, rare or legendary. Lets say, spiked legs which are dropped from Bloody Skeletons, have a chance to drop as spiked legs of fortitude and give a bonus to armor or spiked legs of mentality and give a bonus to mana regeneration. That's an example of magic item. There is no way of changing which bonus the item gives, you only can upgrade it; Item can be also rare or legendary(rare spiked legs of mentality provide more mana regeneration than magic spiked legs of mentality). Also grade 7 items were added to the game. That's going to be the last grade for items which are lootable from normal monsters. Aswell as level 400 monsters are probably the last monsters available for basic hunt. There is no level cap, and soon I will reveal some information about what will players do after they pass that level.
  • Ability stones. Ability stone has a chance to increase item quality. If you use ability stone on a rare item, there is chance for item to become legendary, etc. If you use ability stone on common item, there is chance for that item to become magic, and gain random ability(this is also permanent). Ability stones are now grade based, so, there is no reason to keep them until you reach a higher level. Ability stones are only obtainable by doing quests, events and killing bosses, not basic monsters.
  • Magic gems. Magic gems are used to increase item basic stats(armor, resistance, attack, etc). Every item can be upgraded up to 10 times. For example: titan hammer (Atk: 270-450) and titan hammer (+6) (Atk: 320-534).
  • Crafting was also reworked. Now you can craft something(not ingredients), only if you have recipe for the item. You can't create random items, like it was in first season. There are also no more 'special' items ingame(for now. I got some surprises, but they are going to be revealed later), instead of those items, you will find recipes, which can enchant your current equipment. So, instead of guardian angel armor, you will receive a recipe which adds that passive to any item you want. It's also possible to salvage those items, to get back the recipe.
  • Massive review of monsters; Monsters now act more diversely, we've done a lot of changes to their attacks and defenses, a lot of new spells for monsters were introduced. For example, skeleton has a small chance to ressurect after his death, Tribal Shamans can curse player, to lower his armor, etc. Their loot was also reworked, monsters of same level, can drop different items. So, if you want to loot royal crossbow(f.e.), you need to hunt Wyrms[L. 320], and you won't be able to loot it from Dark Lords, who are same level monsters. There will be some kind of library released very soon, where you will be able to get that information. Red skulled monsters can be spawned in addition to white skulled. They are even stronger, have random bonuses and most likely will drop an ability stone when you kill them. Monsters are not dealing additional damage to players if they are higher level, however players are gaining more/less experience from killing a stronger/weaker monsters still.
  • No condition dispelling. It's not possible anymore to dispell slow condition with a haste spell, there is no 'exana pox' for a poison. Incase you received a condition, you are going to take the full effect. (There will be ways to dispell different conditions, however 'original' tibia ways were removed)
  • Ultimate and Superior runes for level 300 and 350 were added. Reworked all the potions values and prices. Actually all the prices were reworked, aswell as loot rates and items costs; Hopefully money will be valuable this time.
  • All damage values were split into magical, physical and true damage. There is no more element based damage, it's all magic now.
  • Player spells were also reviewed, a lot of changes to AOE spells(their cooldowns lowered to 2 seconds from 3.5, animations and damages were mostly changed). Keep in mind that some of AOE spells now hit specific amount of targets(for example Lesser Chain Lightning(new level 140 mage spell) can hit up to 3 targets, not more).
  • Working and flexible ban system for game masters(previously I never had time to do it, so we were using very simple bans).
  • Saving system was remaked, players are now getting saved every few minutes, greatly reducing the chance of rollbacks upon a crash(Ascalon is pretty much stable server, but of course crashes may occur with new updates and features).
  • Houses are changed to daily rent system.
  • Premium is not anymore a donation-only feature. Premium account is available for purchase ingame. All questions regarding donations, will be fixed during next week, we are still not yet sure about how everything is going to be handled; let's see how the server is going to develop first.
  • A lot of coding improvements all around the server. You will surely notice a lot of positive changes in gameplay.

I loved chasm but a lot of the people who played it don't play tibia anymore, and since his most recent server was Ascalon and more people are familiar with it's probably his favorite.
