I was just wondering, what do you guys look for in an ot? When you first start a custom ot, what is the thing that makes you want to stay and play?

I'd appriciate all comments! It will truely help me out.

Thanks!

A great map, Unique systems, Breathtaking own-made sprites.
Active Staff, that fits the position, not something just given out.
A background/storyline.
Mysteries.
No donation items whatsoever.
English
Fun and enjoyable Quests.
Great Hosting (no lag).

details as such --

But do your own ideas that haven't been seen yet.

Well, that's kind of true. My server will have donation items, but there not over-powered like you'd expect. The only reason that there will be donation items is so we can pay for a good host. And lastly, we cant have all english players because Mexicans make up 90% of the Tibia community, no offense. :)

I know, I was just being sarcastic. It's probably more like 80% anyways. :D

Just kidding

I also would like to know how you feel about addon items. Do you want items such as pocs, turtle shells, and iron ore to be buyable? Or would you like to get them from killing monsters? Post comments!

(Sorry for the double post)

A system that forces you to do quests in order to proceed. In order to gain levels, acces to other places. Basicly a server that consists of a lot of quests with a couple of grinding maps.

I would suggest that you write a story, map around that story with quests to gain access to certain places and so on.

On thing to keep in mind is that consider what Cip has done with their map, quests etc etc and try to make it feel similar to it. There should be a point to doing things, it shouldn't be free items, highrates or any bullshit like that. I'm tired of playing OT's where it take a day or two to take level 300. The Ot I've spent over 2½ years developing now I've keept thoose things in mind, and I'll be running it on 1.4x rate and the other rates as on Cip's Tibia. And I've made quests that are far from obvious, which will reward hard to get items, for instance I have a quest which reward you a winged helmet. You will have to figure out alot of riddles (and for one figure out where to start the quest), face monsters and look in the world for hidden clues and clues which may seem to obvious to be part of the quest.

Your post was really helpful, and thank you for some of the ideas.

I look for someone who has long hair, is blonde, and likes ponies. They must enjoy long walks on the beach and romantic candle lit dinners... oh wait, this is about OTs, sorry, the title threw me off... .-.

On a serious note, a good OT is only as good as it's owner. If the owner wants it to prevail and shows accordingly with appropriate updates and maps, quests and thought put into the server, it will be a "good" OT. You must remember, all OTs with too much thought put into it fails because OT players do not know how to solve a simple quest.

I like for:

- Good balanced servers, with a European community and not overcrowded with Brazilians or Polish unmannered players.
- The ability to stay in rookgaard, either a custom rookgaard or RL rookgaard.
- An experience rate that is not TOO high, like 10x-2x exp rate.
- A custom created mainland.
- No such thing as double experience/loot for VIP players.
- at least 65% accesible area for free account.
- All monsters available for every account type.
- No unfair donation items.
- Unique features.
- Alot of custom, tactic required quests.
- Secrets, such as SoF (sword of fury), but it should be gainable and not take years to discover.

As I read through these and look back at what Ive implamented into the server, you've made a huge impact. Thanks guys!

More input would be great!

Edit: TP room or no TP room?

Years? :p
Sword of Fury have been in rookgaard for 1 decade and 4 years, and still theres is no clue on how to get it.
But knightmare (maker of rookgaard) confirmed that it is possible to get it.
