Yes, thats right. It's a stupid, subjective rule. Trolling is in general joking about someone. I remember someone once posted a picture of Talaturen as a pink elephant. Inside joke I guess. But if a mod was offended by it, he could delete thread for trolling. Remove rule #3 and instead add a rule for harassing. Its obvious when someone is trying to harass another member and when someone is just joking.

Or maybe mods prefer to keep their one rule which they can apply when their special friends needs help and legit rules cannot be applied (good example of harassment, not really funny, just insulting).

Be warned... (inside joke, call it trolling or not its still hilarious).

Needless to say, rule about harassment and spamming rule enough spamming would be enough to protect sections that needs to be protected. But goddamn, if a thread with jokes is removed from chit chat, rules are way to protecting.

If it were to be removed, the website would be 100x more annoying, and from my understanding, I think that Talaturan wants this website to be more Professional, other than just a bunch of people going around asking for things.

You dont see where Im going. There would be other rules to prevent "bad" trolling aka harassing.

By saying "inside jokes" you're implying that you're making fun of something that only you and a minority of people would understand it and find it funny. You should use Private/Visitor messages for such kind of jokes. Trolling doesn't necessarily mean making fun of something, it could be posting bullshit and trying to create flame wars. No, rule #3 will stay. If you want to go trollin' there's 4chan for you.

We want to have a somewhat serious community here, which can't be obtained without this rule.

So make special board rules for Chit Chat? Or rename that sub forum to General Chat or something more fitting if you are not allowed to talk shit in there.

What's the point of renaming the board? These rules apply to all boards so there's no need for that section to have its own specific rules. "Chit' doesn't have anything to do with "shit", I don't know how you jumped to this conclusion. "Chit" means "short note" or "short memorandum".

Hehe, I'll never stop learning :) But point of this thread was. Its stupid to have a rule which basically depends on wether a mod finds something funny or not.

I believe that Moderator's, in some cases, bring their personal feelings about a person into their actions when it comes to deleting posts & threads. If this were to stop, maybe about 60% of all complaints would vanish. I know Moderator's who have done this and I know those who haven't. You shouldn't take action based on what you feel about the person, no exceptions. If a serial killer goes in to the hospital for treatment of cancer and he won't receive the death penalty (because he's dying of cancer), the doctor doesn't murder him or give him shitty treatment because of who he is or what he has done, the doctor would be fired and lose his medical license.

Same should be for here.

To make it clear, the trolling rule will stay on Otland.
Giving another name to something what is already widely known on the internet
brings only confusing.
Jokes with trolling doesn't exists. There are either jokes which are inoffensive or there are trolling posts which are offensive even it's not intended.

Okay, just to make things clear. If I make a joke about Ryan ddosing oldschool servers to gain players would you find that nessesary to delete the thread?

Exactly what Im talking about. Doesnt have to be through removing or changing rules, any way is fine by me.
