Suggestion About "copyright" @ Advertisement board

Dear OTLand,

Due to I think OTLand is one of the biggest possibility to get players I invested in a really great ad, which was made by Winnerandy, requested by me and paid by me.

I never even thought about people that would copy it since I thought that mods would help me out to remove/delete/edit the copiers threads. But they didn't.

So now I'm here without any special thread since a lot of other people just ripped it of and I can't do anything.

I may be called selfish because of that, but not a fool. Thread designs are cheap, but what about templates that cost around five hundred dollars? Would you share your five hundred dollars template with everybody?

It's such a short term view, "I paid some money for this so I won't share it". I can't imagine it to be a big sum for a thread layout, so why not take the opportunity to get some free advertising which is probably worth more to the owner than some euros?

No but when it comes to bigger sums there are other ways to make money. Spotify is an excellent example of that.

EDIT: Don't you think that if you put up a 500 dollar template for free in exchange for a survey and put some adverts on the site you would make more money than if you tried to sell it?

Now we go back to the no-copyright-but-copyright thing, let's say I give you permission to use my design if you give credits to me linking to my thread, what if you just ignore that and use my design? That's the problem, so my suggestion #3 would need to be applied if the OtLand staff agree.

If I ignore that you will have to take action against me.
The steps should be that a person can copy a thread design if he links back to the original thread. If he does not he can have a period of time to give credits. If he refuses the thread will be removed.
I sincerely hope you do not start up this copyright bullshit here >.<

Do you know why people is starting to make these "copyrights" in Otland? Because the members nowdays in Otland don't care a shit and copy everything they see and rip it. And therefore, people are forced to put the copyright so they can't get "stolen". Also, I don't think someone would put copyright if the owner did not pay for the design or what ever he bought. If it was for free, then it would be okey to take that idéa/design unless they ask for permission.

And if you have seen it or not, people protect their mapping showoff by writing their name on the picture as a copyright,

You are using maps as an example. Imagine if every map was completely open source and everyone could expand it if they wanted to and maybe put their version up on the thread as feedback. Imagine what could be created if hundreds of mappers united and created together, giving credits to everyone of course. Sadly it isn't this way just because what you are describing. Everyone is too busy showing how good they are themselves to think of a greater good and what could be achieved with the help of others.

I heard that you steal graphics often? No seriously, if a thread is copied, then I mean it's identical to the original, then it could be removed by a moderator. Copyright is just silly here, no one will take legal actions anyway.

And the last thing you wrote, it's not to copyright the picture, it's to make the picture abit more fancy.

The images you use in your designs which you sell, do you have the rights to use/edit/redistribute/sell them?

This question does not really have anything to do with the topic. I'm just curious.

What I've heard from him is that he got the rights to do that. I've even tried to bought templates/logos that hasn't been 100% done but he have refused to sell it due to that he hadn't asked the owner of example the background.

Don't care about the examples, I must been blind or something on Merenia.. But ForgottenL at least, a bad copy but still..

I'm not just talking about my ad thread since it become more and more paid ad threads. I think a good way would be to just setup a rule for it and add that "extra service" to 1 moderator (example CyberM) to handle all those cases where he's the judge.

As I said in my topic, I think OTLand is one of the best ad places == I invested in a text design so more people could become interested. Like a normal template :)
 
Are you kidding me? I do not think you have applied for copyright license for an advertising threard related to OTserver .. if that is true then I must just say that you might need a hobby .. But in any case, I think you're bullshitting

Before you even write, please read all replays... We already come over that point. We are now/(as we always done) talking about making a rule for it!
