Botters are not much of a problem, since we will have players that know how to spot one quick, also we may add something to prevent those AFK botters, since there is not easy way to prevent them in general.

Next question, seeing that this is going a bit well, Maps, should we base it on a particular map and build upon it or should we find someone willing to create one from scratch???

I personally think it should be custom, but there is also the ongoing map that they are developing(IMO it's taking a bit long) I believe that the map will be essential for story writers since they have to base their story on the map, and create characters and such.

I believe you're wrong. It's the opposite. Mappers should base their map on the story and not the opposite, that leaves more room to play with the map and the story itself.

Ye, you're right! :p they both can work as they go. since most mappers here in OTland have a story behind their work.
 
Against 8.60. Only reason to use 8.60 is for elfbot.
I'm thinking 9.0 (or 9.01 when CIP updates for summer) when it's stable. Since obviously this won't be done tomorrow.

0.4 - reasons? modern functions, 0.2 has outdated functions AFIAK
 
It should be 0.2 for stability. We don't have 9.0 version of TFS 0.4 without bugs and we do have it with 0.2.11 (not yet released). We will also be able to use flash client :)
 
0.3.6 is both stable and has lots of functions. any features it doesn't have are patchable from 0.4 easily but nobody other than me seems to use it still

I use it for many 8.54 servers. As someone said before, official project should use newest official TFS, not some ported/hacked stuff.

Yea someone else told me the same thing and it something to take HIGHLY into consideration, sometimes sacrifice something to gain another.

I assume you can do this? if you can deliver me a modern 0.3.6(source code, I can compile it or get it compiled) if you make it, send it privately to me, I know this is not in good taste to keep some stuff closed-source, but I want to try to keep cancer out of this.

well I have decided to use 0.2.x until otherwise(if cyko delivers), I assume re making the 0.3.6 functions should not be too hard to remake in 0.2.
 
This sounds like an amazing idea. I love how there are actually new things, if this gets out, it'll be widely used, I can tell.
If you need any help with mapping, or creating anything, no matter what, just tell me, and i'll help you as much as you can :)

We should attempt to get Mock to join, to edit the libs.
 
OK, Today I came up with a name for this server, what do you guys think about this "Tibia: The Forgotten Lands" "Lands" can be changed to something else(world, realms, etc.)
we can make this like a branch of Tibia, but with new story, vocations, and such

Sounds good dude, how about renamed monsters? Like a dragon is a Drake or something?
 
Story Plot

Ok guys I made a story plot, tell me what you guys think and if you want to improvise, add, remove, do so and post it and I'll take a look at it.

**Tibia: The Forgotten Lands**

Long ago, when King Tibianus was just a a simple squire, he had ventured in to far lands with his Sir, Sir Kynel.
Sir Kynel was a brave Knight that was well loved by the people of Tibia and King Thais, Kynel had many adventures with Tibianus, for even he knew that one day he would become king.

Kynel and Tibianus had set eyes on a new adventure to an uncharted land, where they hope to learn more of the World, they have visited and have seen many kinds of different people, kingdoms and tribe throughout their adverntures, but none of them was more amaizing than their adventure, to Tugara, it was previously named, upon discovery Thainan, just to learn it had people in it and a name of its own.

Tugara was a place that had many interesting and different kinds of Places, the people had magic just like most of them back in Tibia, but somewhat different, in these new lands they have lived there for many years learning about them, untill they have manager to form a small civilization.

Years had passed, Kynel and Tibianus had heard some bad news back from the motherland, King Thais had fallen ill, Kynel and Tibianus heads back to Tibia, they stay with the king till the very end and just as Kynel had forseen, Tibianus was asked to take over the kingdom, Tibianus, with pride and Knowledge, he took his place.

King Tibianus offered Kynel to be his Commander of the Knights in his Kingdom, but he refused, by saying, "Thank you My Lord, but I do so wish to return back to Tugara." King Tibianus, proceeds and grants him his blessings and parts from him.

More than 40 years pass, and at this day King Tibianus asks to himself " What of my good friend Kynel?"

And a new chapter opens in a far land...

Put up a websvn for this and make many developer accounts so many people who can script and stuff from otland can commit stuff. Thats what a community project is all about right?

I will be happy to assist.

Yeah, I will try to push this more.
I'm trying to make a story line for it, that would be the base and ground for development, for it. I can see positive feedback from this project and I will not let it die, since this will be the game server made by the community.
