Hosting Company?

So i got my dedi server but i need to choose a OS and i don't know anything about it but i heard Ubuntu is the safest, anyway i'll add a pic here so you guys can help me wich one i should take dedi server.jpg

If you're not experienced at all with linux then go with the Windows Server OS, elseway use Debian or Ubuntu.
 
I'm pritty sure you can, but i belive you must compile it unde rlinux before, ima nto sure :D
Might you explain it to me, also if you know how it works? wanna setup a serv, soon,too :D
