hello, i was a tibia/openTibia player 2 years ago.

Recently, I came across the game Realm of the Mad God. Its a flash game and its a MMORPG like Tibia. Maby someone of you heard of it and already played it:

http://www.realmofthemadgod.com/

I was wondering if its possible to create a ROTMG Private Server somehow, same as its possible with Open Tibia to create private servers.

I post about my question here in the Open Tibia forums, since here are many Open Tibia developers, and maby you could help creating a ROTMG private server,, if it's interesting for you.

Thanks for all comments and help

ROTMG is written in a different programming language, Flash.
Asking here is obviously not the best idea since OpenTibia is written in C++.

I'm not saying no one here knows or experts in Flash development, I'm just saying, its very unlikely.

It is possible considering anything can be written again, however I doubt you can make the same game exactly without some insight into how the game was programmed.

@ Evan, are you sure it was Flash and not Java?

The fact the game is made in Flash doesn't mean the server itself needs to be made in flash as well.

This is true, due to the games simplistic design using tiles similar to Tibia it wouldn't be hard to write the game in another language, the question is what language would be most effective and this is why it is probably written in Flash in the first place.

That said, why make the same game if you go to such extreme lengths? Why not make a better version?

I'm just putting it out there that it is made in Flash, that is all.

RotMG is a game where a private server would suck, the reason its playable is because there are so many people imo, if you like it so much just play it lol

you can view the source code of a flash file/game with a swf decompiler. That would make the rewriting process of ROTMG last not so long.

open tibia also started with a few people, and now many people are playing it. So it would be just a question of time until the private servers would become full of players :)

maby there will be some players, like once in tibia, that have the knowledge and the demand to create a private server/client for ROTMG.

But the question is, like what Icy said, is it worth making a private server?

The point is, you can have fun on Tibia with 5-10 players because of all the stuff you can do - unless you really want to go out of your way developing a SHITLOAD of new content, it's not exactly going to be fun since you won't be playing with many people...

im very very sure that many many players from ROTMG will play on private servers, its totally worth. since ROTMG is a permanent death game, there are many people who are rage quitting because of deaths. They would like to keep playing, but hate the perma death thing.

So the private servers could be modified so its not a perma death game anymore or that those amulets of resurrection become cheaper and affordable for players.
