Creating the Isle of Vortex

Currently I am working on a map project. The idea is to create a new part with a city, hunting areas and quests. I will try to keep you updated on what I have added to the map and at the end I will publish the map aswell.
Feel free to judge the parts I made and any ideas or disagrees on the map can be given aswell.

Message to the auto-border haters. This map may contain parts that are made with auto-border. Altough I try to do it as less as possible.

Here you can see the first part of the city. Just two houses I made, a lightning house and a house where a NPC comes that gives you a mission.
The idea is that the city will come in the style of these houses. I am not a professional mapper so for the grounds with the houses and details I took the time of 90 minutes already. (imagine what it will take to finish the complete map haha :rolleyes:)

No grass tufts visible, need to add some.
There should be no cactus on beaches, just shells.
 
Thanks for the feedback. I haven't taken care of the grass yet. For the beach your completly right I keep forgetting that part :) Cactus desert and Beach shells.. Trying to remember from now on thanks again..
 
You did the building decently but everything else is just gross (Yes because of autoborder/doodad).
Though I see you put a message in your post, at least you will try to use it as little as possible.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. What I always wondered was those who hated the autoborder system, do they make everything thereself such as the beachline making the water turn into sand.

The sand border adds the sand ground under it automatically, even with RAW.

Sorry if I understand you a bit than the following screenshot should be better since I did the beach border myself and changed the flow from water-desert into a rocky durt line?

I think the sand border looked better. I think you should change the shape. The mushroom shaped beach looks kinda unnatural.
 
Again thanks everyone for your feedback.. Some of your idea's really got me thinking aswell and with my upcomming screenshots I hope to have some of these things "fixed" already. Keep posting your comments cause I'm not a professional mapper so I learn from my own mistakes.

I present the Farm on the north-east side of the gate. This part will include the quest "The wolf who goes for dinner" a simple task to find a mutated wolf that eats Farmer Billy his sheeps and pigs.

The city ground, city wall and nature did not get there detailed editing yet. I will place these soon, just to give you the idea of the farm and the overwalk into the big city.
