Hello everyone,

ive noticed to little activety in otland, no more scripts requests or other requests. So what have happend?

Dont say tibia or ot is dieing it has same amout of players these past years and its 20k+

What do you think the reason is, why otland is dieing. I thought about release rl map 10.1 based on 1.0
why i will release?
Bcz it may bring back memebers back and asking for help and etc....

I bet at least 60% aint reading ur third line at all and therefor will come up with the "Tibia dies" argument.

As for me, it's just the lack of time and interest which made me stop developing. Though i guess thats not entirely true since i guess i would return to develope OTS if there was smth to return to. But as of now Otland seems like a ghost forum considering its ots part. Great people and good friends of mine have taken their leave and continue to do so. I think that this whole process is due to a lot of players not apprciating custom maps or custom works and ofc the fact that ppl dont see the OPEN Tibia anymore but the GETMONEY Tibia... Sure staff has taken steps to prevent this but ye we all know how underground shit goes. And even if the moneything would be solved, the good people are still gone and won't return.
There are a lot other spects but i will leave it to that.
Regards,
Damon

People grow up but what about the new generation? :p

i agree Damon. Also i think its mostly that otland has turned to a ghost forum. Something happend with the forum that people dont come anymore here. Maybe people cant access the forum from a wierd bug? or to little content in the forum?

Cbrm
Well people are truely growing up, but they are still same amout, but not that many visit otland anymore :/

A lot of users stopped visiting OTLand when the administration changed the forum software, they're simply afraid of changes.

Its not OTLand that's dieing or inactive, just no one has a reason to post anymore. We need to come up with more user-friendly features or projects to keep people online, and interacting with each other. That's the main goal of my website portal, I want to give people a place to learn about open tibia and always have a conversation to join to have some good ol' Tibia fun.

lots of been banned (old polish users), forum engine change (imo better now) and just people growing up.

@Ninja
Yes, i think that was the biggest fall down of otland. But i really like the new forum, also asfar i understand this change was needed.

@Extrodus
As we can see there are still many people which is playing ot and tibia. Maybe there is to little hosters. Thats why i thougt about releasing the rl map server here in otland.

I got this feeling as well. Have spend 1-2 years more or less trying to make a good server, and when it launched, had a peak of 18 players and now 0 people is playing. Brings the morale down and now it feels like I just wasted my time.

I understand the feeling of failing a server. But ive failed alot of servers but i never gave up, through my journey with open-tibia ive learned alot from scripting, linux, difference between vps and dedicate servers, open ports, bit c++ and etc...

So i have not wasted anytime, i just glad that ive learned alot of new stuff.

Well, the thing is that such 1-2 year server projects have a lot of work in it. But their problem is, that the target group from two years ago differs from the recent one and therefor is not interested anymore. Custom servers, once most favored are now mostly dead and low player stats :(
If anyone starts a project again id say: start really small and make weekly updates leaving place for improvement/adjustment :-)

@Printer,
The community definitely needs an up to date 1.0 project that everyone can start updating and working on. If you can release a stable version of the 1.0 with real map compatibility I'm sure we'll see a spike in people trying to complete the project and make it everything it can be. Since the 0.3 transfer to 0.1, everyone has disappeared trying to get everything switched over.. causing most people to just give up since they have never thought about cross-compatibility.. they just deprecate functions with no warning and let everyone figure it out when the release comes which leaves everyone falling behind.

No one wants to sit down and have to recode everything they've already created just because the development team decided to make remove functions without making it compatible on 1.0 in some way. Now we have to start over in a sense; which with no question - NO ONE wants to do.

Unfortunately, that's exactly what's wanted here on OTLand since ShadowCores has been sought after to stay the top server.

The user-friendly part of OTLand is gone.

-No easy way to access revisions from the forum
-No cross-over support on 1.0 from previous revisions, better start re-scripting everything!
-No way to see currently active users in a thread to encourage conversations/questions
-No active chat box link on the homepage for random conversations
-No
LUA:
 [code=xml] codes, so reading "Releases/Requests/Tutorials" just look messy and unreadable.

This leads to no desire to search high and low for information that should be right in front of you, especially after a few months of the new forum software being implemented and still no changes made to bring back that user friendly OTLand everyone loved.

Could not have said it better...

We could teach the people to make OTs and all the stuff related. Look at znotes tut, he taught people to use .noip and now many server have that type of address.

In my opinion people are just bored of servers with real map. They have shadowcores, what u want more... 7.4... 7.6 it doesn't matter what client which u create. Ppl need something NEW. Custom map, custom scripts, quests etc.

A 2-3 years ago, there were a lot of project with custom map, story and new systems. Now a lot of original systems we can download just from here, and then it isn't an oryginal.
All is for free, all is for make money. This is not the same what was 4 years ago, without SMS-Shop. Ppl to make money did PACC like rl, now all is going to tibia/otland die.

Didn't Otland used to have 10k users online compared to 1-200 now? :O

I've noticed it too, very sad to be honest..
since the new layout ive seen much inactivity...
normal mapping showoff and supports get spammed... i only see a sll growth in small art..

i agree about the problems: all about money, rl map server crap, people getting older and busier or losing interest..
