Hello OTland, I would like to know if it would be possible to replace all the sprites from an otserv using 7.6 to sprites from the lastest Tibia.
I mean, if you could actually take all the sprites, like water, walls, etc from the lastest tibia version and put this sprites in an old version like 7.6, and then deleting the old ones.
inb4- I know that in order to replace sprites or add you have to use custom clients.

And if this would be possible, why the fuck no one actually did it? the only good thing in tibia that became better are the sprites, the gameplay became shit, old one was better.

this, with these sprites, and not all the other bullshit around the char...

Yes its possible, i also believe some guys actually done it. However its really time consuming and that could be a reason to not get it done. You simply doesn't just have to add the sprites to the new sprite folder you have to edit items.xml with all new items and same goes for movements.xml/weapons.xml to update the new doors, axes, swords, rings etc.

shit, thats sad, it could be quite interesting to play an ot 7.6 that actually uses the new sprites, all of them replaced, since in 7.6 the bots werent that advaned, and there were lots of bugs with bots, also the gameplay was better in 7.6 and it didnt have so many useless new systems it could be actually amazing..
fucking ots, why everything takes a lot...

I remember old 7.4 rl tibia server with 8.54 sprites and stuff... what was it's name? i dont remember but nobody liked the creator because he didnt wanted to share his knowledge and he was pretty "dicky" from time to time.

From experience I could easily say that it would be better to make a new server with old features, rather than an old server with new graphics. It's easier to modify the sources so that the game features are equal to those on 7.4 (and even easier with items, since all items are already implemented, you just have to make sure players can't obtain all the wands and shit ingame).

Since you'd be using a custom client either way if you attempted to do this, it doesn't matter which client you base it off of. If we had proper tools for working with sprites and tibia.dat, then it would probably be easier that way, but since we don't, this option that I mentioned is a much better choice.

Yeah, I didn't though about that, but also I believe that if you do it the other way around ( old server with new graphics) probably it would be more natural, idk if I explain myself, like the gameplay would be the original and everything would be exactly the same except the graphics, thats what im looking for.
I believe it wuld be fun to see a server like that, probably it would help people realize which updates from cipsoft were good and which ones were bad.

+ it's a bad idea to begin with, the old graphics only contribute to the success of old-school OTs. mixing the two is not a good idea, it would be a failure. you can add new/custom sprites and use them like tibianic, but mixing old-school gameplay with new graphics is not a good idea

we never tried it.
It would be interesting to see the result. And from there the good features from newer ots could be added.

then you've never heard of waropolis, converted 8.xx to 7.4. needless to say it didn't attract many players

Would be easier just to use a later distro with the new graphics already and then change all spells, items and the old gameplay systems in the source maybe?

but im looking for the opposite.

i know it would be easier but im not sure if the gameplay would be the same the other way around probably it wouls be more natural

it's practically identical, but the old graphics are what helps contribute to the success of oldschool OTs
