Hi,

I would like to suggest that the OT to detach(unklink) from Tibia and become a Full MMORPG Engine, cuz having a open-source (client and Server), is enough to make the community grow and it would bring more help to make the project get stronger. And if people google about 2D MMORPG Engine, they would find our Forum easily.

What do you guys think?

We are still using Cipsoft's copyrighted stuff though

TS is basically saying we should stop doing just this.. and just create a new client aswell and call it 2d MMORPG.

;)

A good idea IMO, good points. Much easier to spread to other MMORPG fans and communitys that way..

Yea, but you can at least start another project, making use the source code, and unlink from cipsoft step by step, taking control from your own sprites. Surely this project would bring more people who dominate pixel art and programmers to help the grow.

These days, the server are too malleable, it would be perfect if that idea come foward.

Except that respriting the whole game will cost you literally thousands of dollars. Especially monsters & their movements.
Hence why the idea of being able to 3D model monsters and use them in such perspective as Tibia would be pretty great.

Tho, the FoF project is in works. Standalone game with fully custom sprites, planned to be on Steam if im not mistaken. @Shadowsong

create an open pixelart thread so we all can add a part to this use OTC and we will be okay i would like to see somebody putting our first citizen outfit :) ofc changes to OTC will come too because it looks like ripoff of cipsoft client.(but still better)

This is one the advantages to be a open source, the community will take the responsibility to pixel art to help the project development, without any cost, I've seen this happen with http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/, and they aren't open source

following for interest
I can def contribute my mediocre spriting abilities (and slightly less mediocre mapping abilities) to this if it happens

That shouldn't be open source. Anyway you need a lot of writers/designers, then programmers and at the end pixel artits and mappers.

right, but think about it this way

people find teams all the time in the jobs board, and there are tons of people working to update tfs, so how hard can it be to get a big enough group from here to work on this?

That's correct. If I can share anything from that experience it's that, building an entire game including the engine from scratch (well, technically, it's using Unity as a base but from there onwards, most of it is custom) is super time-consuming and expensive, if you don't have a team of volunteers. I've done thousands of dollars worth of sprites for that project for 'free', with hope that it will yield something once the game is released. It's very hard to find a large enough group of people that would go through such an ordeal and risk.

"Open Tibia Land"... gonna need a name change.. wth you gonna call it?

I dont say that there is no people. Im talking about making a team, specifying goals, building world with genesis, preparing balanced gameplay etc.

I'd contribute both lore and map if the engine is in place. Argardhs lore is 110% written for OT's. Several worlds, timetravel, the battle between good and evil is first and mostly about what worlds the gods will create.. copies of existing worlds or new ones :) So basically the map have no limits it have to stick to.

Umm, I barely know anything about tibia. I use TFS to create a game what is not related to tibia.
To me TFS already is full MMORPG engine. Sure it has some annoying limits or missing few features, but with enough learning you can solve the issues on your own.

You speak in a selfish way, i know very well the emulator capacity, thats why i started this topic. I wanna broadcast the project and make the community grow. If we think about keep the knowledge to ourselves, we will get to a point that we wont have constant updates anymore, and we can reach a possible "death".

@topic
We need that someone on the group carry this idea, the project have potential to grow. Im here since Tibia7.1, and i remember very well that the Tibia community was huge, there used to be several websites with pixelart downloads, to modify the original client, it was awesome.

PS: Back in the day the community was more united.

What do you mean?

You started the topic because TFS follows too much tibia and uses same limitations as tibia instead of letting developer set the boundaries.
If that was not the case, I missunderstood your opening post, not much to read from that anyway.
I wanna broadcast the project and make the community grow
You broadcast TFS project in a community where TFS was created?
I have broadcasted it on Patreon, Youtube, Google+, DeveloperShed and few more forums and I will continue to do so as my project grows.
Its very unlikely I will use any other emulator than TFS.

Well good thing the knowledge is not kept away. Its up to us to pick it up and expand/learn from it.

If you look around, ppl try every now and then. I have tried few times with no success.

Once upon a time I was seeking open projects and helped everyone I could.
Now if I would see open project, I would not join it. I have spent too much time perfecting TFS to just give it all away, if I would quit, then sure, but this is not the case.

When it comes to creating a project it either needs money or time. Often times it requires too much time and very unlikely someone helps you out, if it takes more than few hours.

I'm aware people in this community still help to guide or create or teach new things for money.
Hence the reason I'm doing scripts for others for fee. So I could afford to learn everything I need.

Any sticky notes option? so we can start contributing to it ? somebody want to create directory for it?

maybe you can make some actual maps (not like rme ones)
