Some sketches of the armor

I then made a quick 3D model of the armor as a experiment. took about 3 hours.

And the pixel version

Doing a 3d model was for sure not worth the time but it was fun atleast.

Beautiful! Keep trying your best!
Awesome sword & helmet. Good job!

Awesome 3d modelling.

You could go for anti-aliasing on your 32x32 pixels.

It looks already pretty good but the lights seems to be coming from the left side and it should be actually coming from upper left.

Keep bringing it on!

I must say the 'pixel art' looks like downscaled 3d models. Try doing this with only 4-8colors. And be consequent how you put them. Its not easy but this would never get approved as pixel art even if you did it pixel by pixel

Here is the process for the helm and shield

@Darth Vader
Thanks!

@Okke
Thanks! Anti-aliasing is done in the game engine when the assets are being drawn. no need to do it now, it would just make everything even more blury. The light is coming from the upper left but i agree it might not look like it does. it has to do with the surfaces not being angled upward as much as to the left.

@Yellowhat
Not get approved as pixelart? You seem pretty elitist with your precieved "correct" method of doing art. Go shitpost somewhere else.

You have a great job here!

About the armor, our friend @Okke said about AA. I need to agree with you that AA isn't a good idea there, if bad applied it would do the sprite looks more blurred.

Analyzing the pixels, what do I believe that you have reduced some armor model you did... I think this is nice and greatly facilitates the work with a ready model.
But when you do that often the colors are messed up, make noise and some blurr. So you need to fix it.
(Well, if you want to achieve higher quality, usually the player doesn't care.)

In this case I suggest working with individual pixels to improve contrast specifically, this would improve the overall sharpness.

Also I recommend putting the outline unless you don't work with Open Tibia.
It's used to have no problem with changing the background.

"Pixel art is a form of digital art, created through the use of raster graphics software, where images are edited on the pixel level. " Wikipédia

I believe when you're working with pixels, you're doing pixel art.
Some people restricts the amount of color... so I don't know if i do Pixel Art, and I dont care about what is Pixel art now... I just call myself a Spriter hahaha!

I just need to agree with you.. Maybe he isn't doing "pixel art" (I mean, working with the pixels), I believe his armors are resizes of his models.
But that's cool anyway, he can make great sprites with this method. ;)

Waiting for new sprites, gogo!

Cool designs man! i really like them! keep on working in your pixel skills! i'm sure you will be great at it =)

That shield is amazing. Great choice of colours and it has a very original design.
Loved the armor as well. The only thing I would do is to outline those spikes too! By the way, I don't agree with Leshrot at all. Your painting is pretty unique and it's blurry way is damn cool, altought it's missing some details from the original armor concept.
That helmet is perfect. One of the greatests I'eve ever seen.
Your painting style attributes a lot of realism to the sprites, and I like that.

Made a slew of sketches in the past 45 minutes.
Gonna try and make atleast 1 into pixelart.

Might also make a walkable tileset.

Some dirty stone tiles. Would probably fit in a place similar to dark cathedral. :eek:

Made the boots but not very detailed. gonna try to make some other item and maybe try to get more of the original details in there.

Edit: will make the book next

I liked the boots u got a high content of contrast it worked pretty well
i would like to ask if you did in a big size then just resize the image.

Yeah, start with a basic drawing/painting and then scale it down. When it's shrunk down it becomes really blurry so i have to go in and define edges pixel by pixel. I do most of the coloring once it's somewhat clean.
It's really simple and much quicker for me since i am used to drawing and painting much more than doing pixel art.

Nice, in fact it's a good ideia cause u got more space to work and better skils with a pen instead with mouse
U got the digitizer table or table doing those sketchs?

The graphics become good after you shrunk them,but it think it leaks AA on the edges it will make better
nice job
