RokojoM's Centre

Looks like the ones currently living there has done a bad job cleaning up. It's like stepping into my flatmates room. :D

Looks pretty good, though.

My first glance at the piece above was like... I literally said outloud what the fuck. Never seen anything like it before, very interesting and it looks good. Could you make it blend in without the pink background? The plants and other vegetation would look more in-place so to speak, if there was a more natural background (if that makes sense to you).

I tried some other backgrounds and I edited the original post with the one I liked the most. I included my other attempts aswell.

The one you presented now looks very very good. Good job on this piece it's truly something eyecatching!

Really like the clean looking style. Would be nice to play in :)

Those huge mushrooms... hmm. Maybe. But blueberry bushes, no. I often see them used in cities but blueberries grow in forests, not cities. Also it just doesn't look good with a bright green bush with blue on it in this environment. I don't like those white flowers either, the soil looks ruined somehow, so it just doesn't look natural for all those bright trees/flowers to grow there, especially not when there's fungus growing.

The architecture looks very well designed though! Good job.

You've opened up a subject I'm a little sensitive about. Don't take this harshly but aiming for realism in a fantasy-driven world is nothing but idiotic. We give ourself the opportunity to create stuff you couldn't imagine seeing in the real world. Why waste this opportunity in the name of realism? Look at my previous map and remember the fact that there's demons and dragons in Tibia. I think placing blueberry bushes in cities is the least of your concerns if you're going to be icky about realism.

I placed the blueberry bushes because they fit the blue walls and otherwise there'd be too much green. I placed the white flowers because they fit the white birch trees and white colours generally go with a lot of different things. In other words; I placed stuff because I find them pretty in their environment. I never consider what is realistic, I think about what looks good.

None the less, thank you for your input!

I am a fan of your mapping, but even in this fantasy world, we use realism when we map. You wouldn't put fire elementals in a snowy area for example. I do understand your thoughts, and I didn't want to sound demeaning at all, just giving you my opinion and hopefully you will take in what I said. We can't do anything but to learn more from eachother.
For me, the atmosphere is way too dark to include bright green bushes and birch trees etc, it looks like a constructed nature for a normal continent. If you look at those fernplants or whatever they are called, they look more dull-green than those normal bushes/fir trees. I think that sort of plants would fit much better. It's just my opinion though, I do think you can improve the city by revamping your nature choice. But if you like it then stick with it. It looks very good nevertheless!

P.S This piece by the way is one of my all-time favorites.
