2rec//Mapping thread

when i look at your mapping, i would say that you have a Depression in real life or that you are at least a sad Person. you always use dark Colors and your mapping pieces always have a desolate, dark, grimmy atmosphere. you map dark forests, lost Underground Caves and cities without light. but still you are a very good and creative mapper and like all your pics.

Big-ass trees on top of things are trendy lately.

I don't think so :v
But i'm gonna admit, im into more melancholic vibes, if it comes to inspirations.
Thanks tho.

I think you need to add more color I only seen a few screenshots but most of them are dark and evil looking

I feel like there are many good mappers out there at the moment, but most of them approach mapping in a way people are familiar with.
So when I browse your thread and see your mappings, I can't help but to appreciate your very unique pieces a little bit more.
You're very creative, keep it up man!

It's impressive how you mix the colours with tiles, walls and objects around. The last picture, where there are two stairs next to eachother, doesn't it look weird, does it? (If they're on same floor).

I can see what you're trying to make but too brown for me I think, try introduce a bit more green or some other colours to contrast it :)

I like the existing contrast between the brown mud/rock and the green; it says something about the time-frame. 24 hours after a city fell there would be ashes (perhaps still fires), corpses and blood. 24 years later the city would be over-grown – nature doesn't care where a city used to be.
The sharp contrast between the brown and the green gives me the feeling that the city fell like around a year ago – the immediate signs of the city falling are no longer visible, but the streets and remaining walls are not over-grown yet.

To me there are two details that I works against this:

1. The well doesn't look well-used at all. I interpret the brown mud/rock to be the city ground, where citizens kept it free from nature growth by simply stepping on it. A central function like a well would surely have trampled down grown below it too, if that was the case.

2. The border sticks out a bit too much. That looks to me how a rock ground could be shaped in nature, not in a city.

The colorscheme doesn't blend good with the normal mountain type. Looks fine otherwise.
