Local connection not working.

I've been messing with this for a few days. Everything seems to be configured correctly, ports are forwarded, ip is correct in the config.lua.

Others can connect to the server but I cannot from the host machine. If I switch the IP to my ipv4 in the config.lua I can connect but no one else can.

I've tried changing the mysqlhost between "localhost" and "127.0.0.1" and tried connecting the ip changer on those two as well as my local and public ip.

I've searched these forums for a few days and found a few threads of people with similar issues, but none of those resolutions seem to work. I'm at a complete loss.

Added edit for clarity: I get past the character selection but am stuck hanging upon connecting to the game server.

I think it should be in support section
I remember u can log to your server using ur pc ip or 127.0.0.1 but people use ur static ip u got from whatismyip.com

Oh, my bad about the forum section.
I attempted to login using both my internal ipv4 address, localhost and 127.0.0.1 the best I've gotten was to the character selection. Once I pick a character it hangs on the connecting to game part. I know I must be doing something wrong, but am unsure what exactly. Others seem to connect externally without any problems.
