Tibiantis - reversed old Tibia project - discussion thread

is this your server? description is entirely copy pasted from this thread

No, it has nothing to do with our project. They just seem to have stolen our description and I doubt they even read it.
It's nothing new. Some time ago the owner of "wearetibia" ot also took a domain with our project name and redirected it to his own shitty server.
That's why we included the following info on our discord welcome page: "Please mind that the only official domain will be tibiantis.online. In case some content is found under any similar domain - it should NOT be associated with Tibiantis project at all. "
It only shows how bad those servers are if their admins have to trick people into thinking it's something else.
Just ignore that kind of crap and do not spread these links, please.

Tibian roofs - the true story.

Somewhere around 10 years ago I was told a bug that allowed pushing people onto some inaccessible roofs. It was shortly after revamp of Carlin, which changed most of the roofs in the town and I thought that was the cause (roofs being bugged). I used a character in one of non-pvp worlds and had a lot of fun catching people on the street with mag-walls and then pushing them onto a nearby roof that they couldn't later get down from (atleast until we put there so many people that they started to TP each other). It was soon reported and Cipsoft "fixed" the issue... by adding stairs to that specific roof.

If anyone ever wondered what these stairs were added there for.

The next day we continued our play... trapping people on the roof next to it. When it was again brought up in tibia.com forums, together with a nick of my character - I decided to trap myself aswell to clear of any suspicion.

^ GM Fryan investigating the case.

Soon after that Cipsoft fixed it for good.

But why am I writing this? Reverse engineering of Cip 7.7 engine proved the bug was actually much older, it probably existed unnoticed (or almost unnoticed) for many years. Since we claim to RE -everything- we could not miss that one too.
At first we couldn't decide whether we should treat is as a 'feature' of old Tibia (obviously unintended but still) or a bug that shouldn't be reflected in Tibiantis server. But after having tracked the code responsible for that behavior and done some more tests... well, the answer became rather clear. 😂

YES, those gifs were recorded on real Tibia server.
And they are just examples, you could actually do much more with it, e.g. get on Thais depot and temple roofs, develop numerous funny escape and/or trap techniques, and many others.
God knows for how long this "feature" had been in the game. If someone ever decides to revive Realots - it will be there too.
It's one of the things we decided not to copy. We disallowed pushing other people between floors, just as it was not possible with monsters. Still I thought it's a funny shit, worth sharing. Especially knowing it could exist in real Tibia for so long. 😂

---
Keep people close, facilitating communnity interaction and also providing excitement for those seeking something new.

That's our intention and it's also why we decided to revamp the whole Ankrahmun area (that + the fact it wasn't balanced too well) to include custom content to explore, rather than add completly new big terrains on the start.
However, we don't want to move too far from the original map (other than Ankrahmun), e.g. by - as you said - editing "underrated" places. Because they might not guarantee the best exp or loot /h, but they usually have the unique feeling and can give you some calmness, when everything else is crowded :) (or serve other purposes).
But you don't have to worry, the further updates will be made in accordance to population. Strengthening interaction within the community is one of our main goals.

I tested it on realots files and does not work to push people on roof xD

It does work. You need to push someone else (not yourself) and target that push on the floor above (not on the wall/same floor). You also need to put a field on top of parcels.
It even works diagonally.

no luck in prison

Because there's a floor below that wall and you're trying to push two squares further. Try from the other side :)

Nice one with Veno temple roof btw. It kinda reminded me back in the old times someone accidentaly threw MPA on the roof of Dream Street 2 (house west of Venore depot). I remember some screenshots with a lot of onlookers on the street (as if half of the server came to see it) and house owner desperately trying to get up 😂 when of course nobody knew how to.
But it wasn't possible anyway, because you can't push anyone out of PZ (roof isn't PZ).

I only regret I did not test that bug more and push it to the limit once it still worked in real Tibia. Even tho it was newer Tibia and I was long retired at the time, but a few hours of fun trapping people in Carlin is nothing compared to possibility of visitting all those fancy places such as Kazo fortress and so on global Tibia 😂
I also wonder if there was any treasure-like room to break into. It was 8.4~ version so it already included Svargrond, Yalahar etc. Any ideas?

In old realots someone got in kaz fortress. Story was GM banned him for hacking. Because he didn't explain how.
So that's how he did it...

Toor's or Iryont's Realots? Do you have any reference?
Btw it's basicly possible to get on the first floor of ANY standalone building with entrance on the north or west side (unless there's some obstacle on the floor). You can break into "treasure room" of Thais bank that way, for example, but there's nothing except for 12 gp and Gorn's loan bill.

must have been one of dennis editions
the player probably started doing that on realots after the bug came out on global
i remember a video or cam of gm confronting him in fortress but i don't find it

would surprise me if other ppl who knew about the bug back then weren't actually doing the same

It's the only one I know about robbing houses and it did happen late in 2005. Wasn't parcels related tho.

i remember that bug with statues!
The parcel thing i'm telling you there was like 3 parcels stacked around the player.
if the door to the house was open and someone throw around the parcel around the sqm the player logged out on they wear teleported inside the house in front of the door and could pick up the items that was close to them i can show some pictures how it look later

Ah, yea. Now when you said that I remember hearing of a bug that allowed stealing items froms squares adjacent to the house door. I also remember Cip fixed it quickly and what was surprising they didn't care to rollback game worlds.
I think it must have happened around 7.5/7.55 updates as well, cause that was the time they changed alot of mechanics (which resulted in a few bugs):
  • changed door mechanics, so that you could be pushed in 4 ways - resulted in a bug shown above, later 'fixed' so that you would stand on closed door
  • changed roping stuff, so that it would appear on a square of a character that's ropped it - allowed roping monsters into houses, soon reverted
  • changed so that you could rope up even on a trashed rope spot
  • probably changed old move/use mechanics - resulted in being unable to push someone that constantly put trash under himself, reverted in newer Tibia
  • removed uhtrap
  • probably changed climbing up via parcels stack, but I'm still not sure how exactly it worked in 7.4 version
  • changed so that monsters started moving, when player was upstairs/downstairs
  • removed overspawn and introduced anti-luring
  • added pz to boats
and a few other changes. It all came around 7.5/7.55, they tried to fix many common 'game weaknesses' at the time.
So there's a chance they also made some changes in login functions. Maybe they tried to 'fix' the teleport 'issue' by that, or something.

I remember this aswell, and they didn't compensate everyone either, damn that was a long time ago :D

We used to push barrels and tables here to train at night. So people without disintegrate couldn't get in (not many did). Yet we found out there was a trick. If two people were standing on the ladder spot and one of them relogged. He stould on the table to the right. So they could rope them one by one and get in anyways.

This was around the time they introduced skulls without secure mode. I remember well because I had a missclick accident on a group of players luring cyclops to depot. Lost my fresh 80/80 + firesword+ dragon shield (30k) for a few test hits on the cyc's. 😅
Also died by my shielding spiders there once. I used bad eq because I was scared to get pk'd and the #$@&%*! slowly killed me overnight.

That one wasn't a bug and it's also easy to explain. Moveable furnitures such as tables couldn't stop you from loging in their place. It's only OTS-thing that you can TP yourself with pots etc., but in Tibia it wasn't possible.
In that case ladder spot was occupied by another character so you had to be moved to one of adjacent squares and bam. :)
In 7.4 it's already possible to destroy furnitures with weapons tho.

Btw, spider is one of monsters that train up the fastest. After having trained all day it could hit 100+, not a good idea to use it for long afk-training :)

hmm yea... makes perfect sense now that you say it... 🤔
