Zenith - A new type of Oldschool

I wish I had some of your coding skills! I've got no shortage of creative, artsy ideas for maps but I work as a sysadmin so while I'm familiar with the basics, I often struggle to get my code right.

The beta starts this Sunday (join the discord for real-time updates!) and after that runs for a long enough to work out remaining kinks/balance issues, the official launch will happen at the end of summer/beginning of fall.

those red power bolt are from cip tibia or yours? i remmeber something like that but im not quite sure if that i saw those bolts in rl or in servers
Those are infernal bolts, which I did all of the re-spriting for. I did the design for not only bolts as an item in your hand but the missile/projectile graphic when you shoot them.
Cip did add infernal bolts, but when they added them to the game in 7.9 they had the newer, slimmed down sprite: 1628771376446.png

I wanted more ammo options for players but wanted to keep all bolts looking consistent so I made my own.

I've never seen this exact thing in another server, but it wasn't exactly the most complicated re-sprite in the world so it's very possible someone else has done something similar.

Balance: since everyone is the same base “vocation,” it is impossible to make the argument that one character is inherently better than another. You control how powerful your character is by how much you are willing to train your skills (no, there are no offline skill trainers) and how diligent you are at collecting powerful items. It is much easier to balance the game by tweaking the buffs on a piece of armor or a weapon than it is to rebalance an entire vocation.

That is like saying there is no overpowered vocation because everyone can pick the strongest vocation.

In games with options, you always need to balance the options against each other. If one option is clearly stronger, that option is inherently better. Allowing players to freely re-roll between the different options isn't a solution to balancing issues. People will still want to play certain options and feel robbed when that option is weaker than the rest.

Hence why I said “it is easier to BALANCE items than a base vocation.” So…I don’t intend to have any one option be weaker than the rest.
 
I have to say that the description of this server has catched my attention as only a few ones have ever done it. It is very hard for me to find time to play, but I might give it a try. What protocol are you planning to use? Will this server be playable with otclient or some old Cipsoft's client (plus ipchanger)? I really don't trust running any closed source client in my computer.

Protocol is 7.7. For the beta which is currently live (and you're welcome to join), people are using the vanilla Tibia client with the IP permanently changed (so no IP changer is needed). Have nothing against moving to some version of OTClient in the future, but haven't gotten that far yet!

Well, but otclient (even the one at edubart's repository) works pretty well with protocol 7.7, right? So, players will have a choice to use OTClient if they want it, right?
 
Seriously a really great experience testing this server. So fun exploring new stuff, just to die and then get the great reward when you finally make it.

Spoiler: there is a big tower in the desert with a great mountain of wasps and other creatures. Hit me up when you climbed to the top and solved the quest and I’ll give you the high five that you deserve! 😍

Collapser team is as bad as it gets. I would expect the same here just because of that.
