Regardless of how I feel about this 'release' and drama (even if it's the best meme in history, I fucking love the Stephany josh wife meme), it's not exactly showing any maturity or respect by pretending there's a virus.

At best it stops a handful of stupid people downloading them, at worst you are displaying much, much more toxic and disgusting behaviour than these 'leakers' and leechers.

There can be 2 levels of virus/trojan inside (both not detected by any antivirus):

• virus/trojan that activates during 'C++ compilation' - C++ compiler expects that you are compiling 'trusted source code' and there is possibility to abuse it during compilation
• virus/trojan that activates in compiled .exe, send login/pass to someone or just give access to PC of player that run it

I would copy-steal some code from it (proxy, encryption etc.), but does not use it 'as it is'.

There is no GIT history and nobody will verify that 1kk lines of code is safe.

Apparently the Josh guy passed away and his wipe released his files or something like that.

Have a good read, after looking inside it looks like complete source files from 17.08.2022.

After comparing, I find that the files are from 25.09.2021 not 17.08.2022. Correct it.

As a community, we should behave responsibly and don't use these sources from leak if their authors don't wish to do so.
The same applies to custom sprites from other OTS - don't use them without permission from the author.

Sources for the game The Witcher were leaked once, hackers demand a money, but the developer didn't pay.
Hackers sold the source code to someone else, but nobody can't use these sources anyway - it would be illegal.

Maybe we should talk with authors, make some donations and they will release official sources.
Both sides will be satisfied, situations like this only discourages talented people from developing for the OTS.

Years ago... Tibia community was like a hacking, leaking, stealing A lot of datapack is stealed like wono, wos, tibiafun and even Real Tibia(7.7) what Ezzz Using.

So Aurelion (aka Reddington and Kostas) leaked this thing just like my server Nostalrius, this is unfortunate, I am extremely sorry since I completely sympathize with Kondra and Oen and the other otcv8 developers, nobody likes to see their work being leaked for free so everyone can continue leeching off someone's time and effort.

shame on you ... who worked with the original Tibia 7.7 engine? You hypocrite

no you've got it all wrong, that license doesn't apply because otcv8 devs said so and their word is much more powerful than a license you see

This License is not for the private source code. It is for the Lua code, all images, exe files and whatever you find in this repo, but not for the entire source code. Same with Developer Edition, MIT License there but only for the DE files.
Private repository with sources doesn't have a License file (which means that they can't be redistributed freely without permission).

Although I get your point, leaked source files do still have MIT License on them, even if it was hereby granted that buyers should not resale or share the sources after payment, the copyright that is stated in the files states that they can be shared, sold, and whatever, but this is OpenTibia we're talking about, almost nobody here cares about laws or copyrights even.

I am not a lawyer but each leaked source file has edubart copyright on them and MIT license, not a different copyright notice, legally speaking buyers could share the files and not be sued because of this tiny detail.
