i have read a lot of people saying that OTclient original repo from eduabart, is trash.
for a 100-200 people server this client is ok?
or i should focus on another distros like v8, etc
also why is trash?

It is not trash, it is abandoned. And have no optimizations at all.

There are few other options:
  • Mehah, which is fully open source;
  • OTCv8, which is partly open source — full sources are paid (too expensive);
  • OTClient of OTLand, which was also abandoned in 2021 Jan.

No optimizations about drawing, which reduces drastically the FPS.
On original OTClient, even if you have graphic card, you get 60~100FPS maximum.
Even so, it works with 10.98 protocol.

I'do choose Mehah, if I were you — it's open source, whole code is free, up-to-date, is well optimized, works with 10.98 protocol and have other cool features.

I don't know about imbuements, but I know that it has prey module.
About players, it's not about your client, it's about your server and host.

back when mehah said that he was being humble... even on 2021 his otc was already better than v8.

justify because it is better
overall mehah did way more optimizations throughout the code, caching more stuff in map, battle module and other areas that kondrah ignored.
Also you'll notice that all tests are done with battle module closed simply because battle module implementation is shitty and probably the least optimized area of otc.

You are definitely not using the recent version of Redemption. Just look at how much more ram Mehah takes by caching everything. Compare with your 33 MB.

There were a lot of updates of Mehah in the last 3 months ago. Since was said "3 months ago" in 27th Sep, this is the updates list from 27th Jun up to 27th Sep:


It seems a lot of updates on Mehah's, when this guy said there was no updates in the last of 3 months ago: 110 updates.
Just to fix this part.
