One last run for nostalgia: Best way to play 7.1/7.4 single player on my PC?

Hello, I know a variation of this question has been asked before, but I need something more specific and the easiest way to achieve it. I’ve been away from the OT community and OT Land for a while and haven’t played in more than a year, but I want to do one last run for nostalgia. I want to play by myself locally on my PC. I know how to compile, modify the source, and script a little, but I need help putting everything together.
  1. I want to play the most stable version that stays true to the original game, preferably 7.1 or 7.4, including the map. Where should I start? Should I use a distribution or source? I want to avoid anything with malware.
  2. What would be the easiest way to set this up?
  3. I may edit it a little later, such as adding a new vocation, removing the summon limit, and adding new creatures to summon.

You should start with a TFS-based 7.4 downgrade that already includes the map and datapack. It's the easiest option, stable, close to the original game, and much easier to modify later for things like new vocations, summons, and creatures.

Ive been doing my research and there a lot of options, maybe someone with experience can point me out to the best distribution or like you said best post where i can get what i am looking for.

After two weeks of researching distros, sources, and datapacks, I’ve realized I can’t test them all myself. I’m not interested in using the leaked CipSoft files. I’m looking for a distro I can compile and use with a real 7.1 or 7.4 map.

Any guidance or recommendations from people extremely familiar with OtLand; proyects, files or distros available? Which distro, files and map would give the closest experience to old Tibia 7.1 or 7.4? Any links to post or file on OTLand would be great, ill be grateful!

I think the easiest and best option out there, if you just want to play with your friends and get the Tibia 7.4 feeling would be TVP.
I might be wrong.
There is also the decompiled 7.7 by Fusion, but I don’t know how hard it is to set up.

Github links are down :/ maybe you'll find someone who's willing to share the files

I was reading about it recently, i will be planga by myself first and editing some things. Since it was not available i dint give it a second look.

Any experienced person can point me out to other options? I would really hate to waste my time changing, fixing stuff just to be disappointed. I am running it locally and playing by myself. I just want the closest thing to 7.1/7.4 i can get without too much trouble and maybe do some changes (coding/edits) later.

Have you tried this one? Well, this isn't the best, but it had some bugs fixed back then. However, you need to use the spr and dat files from 772.zip.
Any upgrade repo.

I read your post, ive been following it for a while. To be honest i did not try to make it work because i am not sure if i had to spend a lot of time making it playable for what i want and how much it was 7.4 like. Maybe yo can tell me if it will be easy to run and make it stable for me to play alone and with the things you add will it be 7.4 enough?

It's playable, even though it not 100% faithful to the original, i still edit a copy of it to this day. if you just want to have fun with friends or understand how it works, getting it up and running not difficult.
about custom, i added is purely for custom and not affect gameplay, you can simply edit, enable, or disable these elements. There are a few workarounds i used for custom weapons, but they are minor details that are easy to understand or removing!
But if you want something that doesn't take up your time, like a serious server, that requires both time and money.
In either case, there's no way to slow down time!
