Suggestion Distribution Acceptance

I was just looking through some released servers, and I thought to myself "there's too much crap here".

I'm not suggesting a whole cleaning, to look for inactive and old servers to delete.

But we can at least try to do something to prevent more shit coming into this lovely community

Any mod of some kind that can approve pending servers...

Distribution Acceptance

Contains all information that's needed:
Virus-Free, Server Engine, Client Protocol, Sources, Credits, Basic Info (map, scripts and other)

But again, it's just a suggestion :/

Im sorry you feel this way. No im not stalking you, I just think its stupid that you go against people trying to distribute to this forum as I belive in that everythng should be shared as long as its virus free. Everyone needs something, just because you dont need it does not mean that there is no one else needing it.

If everyone was acting like you, there would have been no TFS for example. So instead of complaining about people actually doing something and helping others, try complain about somethings that worth it. Maybe something like me for example beeing a board mod?

Maybe I need it too? but my suggestion was to just make it EASIER for the people that do needs it.

To write the simple info about the map, scripts, what server engine it is...custom? TFS ? Is it a war server?

@Request: This is very useful since most the time I feel this way.

1. Distro is really just crap with no features than a new buggy map
2. Outdated server engine that is unstable
3. Beyond buggy
4. Not enough information

There should at least be tags on them

[CTF]
[FUN]

Needs source code, TFS or OTServ version used... Features new to engine

I like this idea. I myself would like something like that, it would only make it easier for the members and newcomers to find what their looking for. It might also keep them attached to our forum because of the great layout in the download section. Thumbs up for this suggestion!

I agree with this, when i first made an account here i downloaded so many crap servers lol. Although they are virus free they are so laggy nd buggy its no fun at all.

Although some old servers are classics and shouldnt be deleted ^_^

Many people do the following: They create a user, download TFS and then they rename the .exe to something random (e.g SexyServer.exe). Then they add their own map and they distribute the server without any real changes, other than different map and exe name. I believe, we should disallow such kind of threads since they can (obviously) post the map on maps section instead of posting the whole server. Also if they added/modified some LUA scripts, they should post them on Lua & XML section. In my opinion we should only allow distributions which contain clear
source code modification.

People that do not know how to do stuff themself will download this and those that have the brain to edit stuff will take the others.

I agree with some of your points actually, we should let people contribute, no matter how small it is, but you should have said that in the first place. Instead you posted that absurd comment that most actually consider spam...Instead of voicing your opinion. And that is why I am surprised by your mod status. But since you are a mod you know this is getting offtopic so continue this in a PM if you want.

Reason I said "this made me lol" was because he opened a new thread with the same discussion as the other one.

All you need is something like Otland supports and then add a special icon next to the thread. Then people would know what Otland strongly recommend.

Maybe for a second board it could be a sub-board of distributions for all the servers that are released with just the normal TFS engine without much source edit.

I think that would make it alot easier to find exactly what your looking for compared to Feloth's idea but both are good ideas.

Don't fill with shit OTLand then, go take your pos and start discussions in other place, you have a pos which you should be proud, but overall you must prove that you desserve it showing respect to other people and gaining respect from other people "don't matter if he is your enemy, you are not in the street, you are in a house" Following here a discussion from other side only makes OTLand worst, later there will be comments on OTFans about you and the Admins that promoted you because they will think only one think "they accept every guy who report posts and speaks english" and you know that is not truth.
