Why is this a paradox?

There's a Greek Paradox I know which was made up by a Cretan (Epimenides). The Paradox says: "All Cretan people are always being liars." If this is true then all Cretans are liars which means that the phrase is false hence he's telling the truth. If this is false then Cretans are not liars which means that the phrase is true hence he's lying. How can someone tell the truth and lies simultaneously?

Ahaha, that's a good one! I've heard it before, but it wasn't the Cretan version. It was about an Angel and the Devil telling a person which path he/she should take, Heaven or Hell? ( I don't know the whole riddle, but it's something like that )
