WHY A RESET?

Mist of Death is being reset because the old direction became too hard to balance properly.

Some progress, old shop power, items and relics created unfair power spikes. The server moved too fast, some routes became pointless, and the early/mid-game did not have enough room to breathe.

This reset is not about deleting the community. It is about giving the server a better foundation.

Your account is not being removed. Your character names remain on your account where possible, but characters will start fresh for the new Reset.

Premium points from real purchases are returned as account points. The old combat-breaking relic direction is not coming back in the same way.



THE MAIN POINT: BALANCE

The reset version is built around cleaner progression.

The early and mid-game should not collapse into one fast rush. Routes, quests, hunts and vocation choices should matter more. The goal is a fairer server where players can compete, progress and understand the game without needing old advantages.

  • Leveling is slower, so progression feels more meaningful.
  • Monsters have been retuned for a more controlled difficulty curve.
  • Spells have been adjusted so each vocation has a clearer role.
  • Quest monsters were separated where needed, so old global monsters do not have to be broken just to fix one route.
  • Rewards are being treated like a ladder, from early utility into level 400, 500, 650, 800 and rebirth progression.
  • Old broken power spikes are removed so the fresh start is actually fair.

The reset is meant to make the server last longer, not just create another short launch rush.



NEW FOR THE RESET: COMPANIONS

The update is not only a nerf pass. The reset also adds new progression support and more vocation identity.

Companions now join the vocation journey. They are part of the new progression direction and help each vocation feel more distinct while still keeping the old Evolution soul.

  • Sorcerers follow a spark/wisp-style companion path.
  • Druids follow a nature companion path.
  • Paladins follow a bird/holy companion path.
  • Knights follow a cub/stone companion path.

These companions are part of the new journey, but the post artwork is promotional and not a promise that every sprite looks exactly like the images.

Vocation lanes

  • Sorcerer -> Master Sorcerer -> Warlock - offensive magic, waves, rune pressure and burst.
  • Druid -> Elder Druid -> Elemental Druid - healing, control, utility and nature-based support.
  • Paladin -> Royal Paladin -> Marksman - ranged pressure, holy damage and flexible progression.
  • Knight -> Elite Knight -> Heroic Knight - melee pressure, high HP, capacity and front-line gear progression.



THE LEGACY IS REAL

Some of you might remember me, Mooosie, and Mist of Death from 2011-2013. We ran one of the old PvP Evolution servers on the scene.

Mist of Death is back with the same soul: Enigma City, 8.60, custom Evolution progression, PvP pressure, quests, bosses and that old-school feeling. The difference now is that the reset gives it a cleaner balance foundation.

WHAT KIND OF SERVER IS IT?

Mist of Death is an 8.60 Open PvP Evolution server with Enigma City as the main hub, custom progression, quests, bosses, events and long-term goals.

QUESTS AND CONTENT

Mist of Death still has the old Evolution quest feeling, but the reset makes progression cleaner and more balanced.

Quests, routes and hunts matter more now because leveling is slower and old broken power spikes are being removed.

  • Custom Evolution map with Enigma City as the main hub.
  • Early routes are meant to give players a quick start, then clear danger steps.
  • Classic and custom quests, including Rotworm Course, Dragon Lairs, Demon Oak, Annihilator, Pits of Inferno, Sceptre routes, Mumpiz, Blade of Corruption and more.
  • Quest-specific monsters are used where needed, so one quest can be balanced without ruining global spawns.
  • Reward bands are clearer: early utility, level 400, level 500, level 650, level 800, level 1000 and rebirth.
  • Boss progression with creatures such as Orshabaal, Ferumbras, Ghazbaran, Morgaroth, Demodras and more.

PROGRESSION AFTER THE RESET

The reset version is meant to be less chaotic and more readable. You should have clearer reasons to hunt, quest, progress your vocation and work toward long-term upgrades.

Level and reward ladder

The new progression direction gives more purpose to level bands:

  • Early game - starter route, Rotworm Course, basic supplies and first danger steps.
  • 150-250 - utility, armor, first serious shields and route learning.
  • 400 - Demon Oak and Annihilator become meaningful walls.
  • 500 - stronger weapon and quest progression begins to matter.
  • 650 - second promotion, POI and late-game entry rewards.
  • 800+ - bigger choices, harder routes and stronger long-term rewards.
  • 1000 - rebirth and rebirth-rune progression.

Rebirth

Reach level 1000 and rebirth to start over stronger. Rebirth remains one of the long-term progression systems after launch.

Augments

Endgame gear can be permanently upgraded through augment types such as:

  • Guard - shielding
  • Focus - magic level
  • Resolve - max HP and mana
  • Stride - speed

Tasks and bosses

Daily tasks, elite tasks and weekly boss objectives help keep progression active after the first rush. Rewards can include Event Tokens and Premium Points.

Events

Scheduled events give players another way to compete and earn rewards. PvP and arena activity are still part of the server identity.

tp room is very small, only good hunts are tortoises and wasps, rest kinda sucks. some hunts have way too many mobs, others are just useless. hunting spots really need better balance.


server is capped at 20 ppl and the whole gameplay is basically spamming ue and running cavebot with the built-in vbot, gets boring fast. no real task hunting, no dungeons, nothing extra to do.


also a lot of quests feel unfinished or just poorly done. overall still needs a lot of work before it’s actually playablesome updates would be good extra hunting spots, maybe some tasks that reward items, and some crafting too. more manual spots instead of botting, I’d honestly suggest deleting that bot completely.

I agree that hunting balance needs work. Some spawns are too strong, some are not worth it, and the gameplay can become too much UE spam/botting instead of actually enjoying the hunt. I’ll be looking at spawn density, exp/loot balance, more manual hunting spots, tasks, quest rewards, and possibly changing some spells so PvE feels more like real fights again.

We are also updating constantly based on feedback. Yesterday we worked on spell balance, slower rebirth progression after first rebirth, starter kit fixes, launch bonus rewards, Windows client download fixes, website improvements, and shop/NPC price display fixes.

More updates are coming. Join our Discord and post feedback there too, it helps us know what to fix first.

Mist of Death Balance Update
Hunts should feel more rewarding, less like screen-clearing speedruns.

Thanks for the detailed feedback lately. We agreed with the main point: some hunts were too easy to rush through, especially with very large UE-style spells and the bundled client bot.

This pass keeps PvP and the PvP Master unchanged for now. The focus is hunting pace, monster reward, spell area, and giving players more reasons to hunt manually.

Main changes
  • UE-style spells now have much smaller blast areas instead of longer exhaustion.
  • Progression spells should still feel stronger when unlocked, but without repeated full-screen chains.
  • High-EXP monsters behind teleport chains and progression gates keep their EXP, but are now much more dangerous.
  • Several strong monsters that felt bad to kill received better EXP.
  • Some overpacked cave sections were reduced so hunts are less about dragging a whole room and bombing it.
  • More hunts now have tasks and item/token rewards.
  • The bundled client bot modules were removed from new client packages. Server-side quality-of-life like !autoloot stays.

The delayed outer-ring chain was removed so it no longer sweeps the room in repeated waves. It keeps its stronger mid-game identity, but now costs more mana.

Monster changes

High-EXP monsters behind teleport chains, higher floors, and level/progression gates should not feel bad to kill. Instead of cutting their EXP, we made many of them stronger so the reward fits the risk.

Im currently doing my motorcycle theory so will be busy, I would consider this beta but has some solid foundations, considering my past activity on otland as number one hater of servers, i can openly say, this ots is something being done from scratch, just needs time. Well done mate and goodluck. It should be a nice evo one day.

Your first post was honestly useful because it pointed at real things that needed fixing. We pushed changes quickly because I want Mist of Death to improve with player feedback, not pretend everything is perfect on day one. Spawn balance, spell areas, rewards, tasks, bot removal from the client package, and hunt pacing are already being worked on, and more is coming. People are discussing changes on our discord, even ingame and it is very useful!
Oh and good luck with your motorcycle theory!

It is still early and I know there is work left, but that is exactly why feedback matters. If someone has specific criticism, post it and I’ll look at it. Just saying "trash" doesn’t help much, but detailed feedback can actually shape the next updates.

Mist of Death 8.6 - Restart Complete: Map, Runes, Houses and Real Mana

Small but meaningful update today. The production server has been saved, restarted, and is back online with the latest server-side changes active.

What changed since the last restart?
  • Real mana support: high mana no longer wraps into a tiny number on the 8.60 client, and !mana shows your true server-side mana.
  • House owner text fixed: doors now refresh ownership correctly after the map/house data loads.
  • Rebirth rune guard tuning: the rebirth 2/4/6/8/10 rune quest guards now climb more naturally instead of random one-shot spikes.
  • Fresh map update active: the latest RME map save is now live after the restart.
  • Quest lever quality-of-life: Annihilator and Pits of Inferno can now be started with smaller groups instead of requiring every tile filled.
  • Safer saves: GM saves and timed house/map saves are improved.

Small progression update for the rebirth rune system.

The stronger rebirth manarunes and healing runes are now part of a proper grind loop instead of being something you can endlessly rely on once obtained.

What changed?
  • Rebirth mana runes and healing runes are now stackable.
  • They are now consumable: a successful use consumes one rune.
  • The rebirth rune quest chests give a starter stack so players can test and use the reward immediately.
  • Rebirth clone monsters can now drop more runes: 50% chance to drop 5-10 matching mana and healing runes for that tier.

The goal is simple: strong runes should feel valuable. You can still build up a supply, but you now have a reason to keep hunting the rebirth clone monsters instead of treating the runes as permanent infinite sustain.

Mist of Death Update: Level 650 PvP is Live
PvP is now active for high-level gameplay, but safer by default.

We have pushed and tested one of the most important PvP updates for Mist of Death.

PvP now unlocks automatically at level 650. The old temple NPC opt-in is no longer the main PvP gate. Instead, players become PvP eligible through progression, while the attacker must still deliberately turn PvP on in the combat controls before they can hit another player.

That means high-level PvP is available, but accidental player hits from UEs and area spells are still blocked by default.

  • PvP unlocks at level 650.
  • Players below level 650 remain protected.
  • The attacker must turn on the PvP button before hitting another player.
  • The target does not need to opt in.
  • Accidental UE/player hits are blocked while PvP is off.
  • Direct attacks and spell damage now follow the same PvP rules.
  • The browser client PvP button now syncs correctly with the safe/unsafe combat state.
  • The game gives clearer messages when PvP is blocked.

We also added progression whispers so players are warned before reaching the PvP unlock. The goal is simple: no surprise PvP, no confusing old NPC toggle, and no accidental area-spell hits unless you have chosen to enable PvP.

Other recent polish:
  • Rebirth reminders are focused again and start notifying after level 300.
  • Useful vocation spell hints were kept.
  • Vocation hints now explain that some spells can be used together because they have different exhaustions.
  • Random general hints were removed so important whispers stand out.

Please do not be shocked when you log in after the restart and your character starts fresh. This is intentional, and it is being done because the old server direction became too difficult to balance properly. Some progress, items and old shop/relic power made the game move too fast and created unfair power spikes.

Your account is not being removed. Your character names remain on your account where possible, but the characters will start again from zero for the new Reset.
