32-bit only recognizes 3 gb ram?

Hey ya, i just recently changed from vista to xp. same computer i just got the windows xp 32-bit version, I have 2 sticks of RAM in my computer(2GB each)=4GB of RAM, but when I open Control Panel> System, it only says I have 3 gb ;o. If I'm not mistaken 32-bit recognizes up to 4 gb RAM? My vista did. Or maybe I'm wrong xD
 
You're wrong.
Vista shows 4 gb, but does not reconigze it all.
Install a 64 bit operating system.
 
yea i will install a 64-bit, but the table says xp 32-bit has a limit of 4gb, so how come its only recognizing 3? That's according the the link zkum gave me.
