attack on my server

Hello,
I opened totay the ports 7171/7172 and I turned on my ots (just for myself and my bro). After we were playing about 10 mis we've got lags.. Is it possible that someone's attacking my server? If yes, are there any ways to protect?

Highly unlikely if you havent put it up on otservlist, because if you havent there is almost 0 chance someone would get access to the server IP since they dont even know your server exists.
I think your problem lies on your connection or in the distro, but I would bet my money on your connection, I had lags when I was testing my server with a friend which turned out to be the connection.
