Currently, I am having a lot of spare time that I am looking to fill with video gaming. What are the games out there that are worth playing in your opinion? Free or Paid, I don't mind either. Just something that yield me some fun.

It really depends what genres you like. I can't recommend any of the newer ones since I haven't played them, but I have fond memories of Prototype and Lucius being a lot of fun. Devil May Cry 4 was also awesome.

If you like strategy, I recommend Warcraft 3 and Age of Mythology;
Shooters: Quake 4 or 5 / Unreal Tournament online;
Mobas: Smite, Dota 2;
RPGs: STALKER (Shadow of Chernobyl), Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights, South Park: The Stick of Truth
Horror/Survival: Lucius, Amnesia (1 and 2), Penumbra, Anna, Dead Space (first part was a bit shit)

But I highly recommend Prototype if you already haven't played it. Had such fun playing that game. :D

I prefer online games mostly Shooters and RPGs. I have been playing MOBAs (Dota 1/2 & LoL) for a long while. For Shooter, I heard CS : GO is the big thing out there. I am still looking for approval tho

CS: GO is one of the big things out there indeed, but even though I was an avid Counter Strike player back in the day, I never tried that because I don't feel like playing CS, it's always the same thing like it was back in 1.6 pretty much. I like things like Quake/Unreal Tournament/Half Life 1 for the quick paced wild shooting action, most of these games are pretty old, but even to this day, you can find tons of servers hosting them online and there are people to play with. Especially UT/Quake.

If you haven't played STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl, I think that could be your jackpot here. It's a shooter/survival game with RPG elements and a great environment, story, etc. I think you'd love it.

Well CS:GO is certainly something to fill your time with :) hell lota fun and nice skins to drop hehe :D
