There is another way as wacherski said... So you can just hur down, probably his bot fucked up made him go up there, my has done it some times :/

It didn't fuck up, he was even tabbing into tibia to use CTRL+Arrow keys to not get idle kick:)

Ever heard of anti-idle? He might be blocking the spawn for a friend or himself on another character? :p What you described is pretty much was it does, if you didn't know.
