Windows Buying a new RAM?

Hello guys, i think ill fix a server computer, i got one almost ready.

Computer: Acer Aspire E300
Windows XP 2003.
Processor: AMD Athlon 64
RAM: 1 gb <-- ill buy i bigger (4 or 8gb)

Connection

Download 70.74 Mbps
Upload 16.61 Mbps

Question

Can i use any type of RAM and put into my computer, or do i need a specific type?
Also, how many players can i handle if i change RAM? :)

I would change processor if I were you :p Are you using 64-bit mode? If not then it's not necessary with 8GB.

Does your motherboard support DDR1, DDR2 or DDR3 memmory? And what is the supported frequency? You need to figure out this, else your RAM bricks might not work. (Or be underclocked).

I found which memories his motherboard support, DDR1. There's not much RAM available for DDR1. :p I would buy a new motherboard aswell, Intel 1155-socket.

Yep your machine supports DDR1 400Mhz RAM. If you are using a laptop you can support max 2GB RAM (pin 184?), if your using a desktop machine you can support 4GB ram(pin 240) as far as I know.
