Hello everyone,

I'm working on a server based on protocol 7.72, but I'm wondering if switching to 7.6 could be a good idea. I'd like to ask if this change could make it easier to find an appropriate map editor and improve other aspects of the server.

  1. Protocol change in Source – I'm wondering if switching to 7.6 could be a good solution. Could this change improve the availability of map editors and make other processes on the server easier? What are your experiences with such an approach? Would switching to a different distribution or server files based on protocol 7.6 be a better option?
  2. Map editors – I don't have any map editor yet and I'd like to ask if you recommend any reliable map editor for version 7.6? Would switching to a lower protocol help in finding an appropriate tool that will be compatible with the server? Is Remere's Map Editor (RME) available for older protocols like 7.6?
  3. TFS 1.5 by Nekiro downgrade 7.72 – I'd like to add a system that allows the regulation of attack speed (speedattack) for each character class, with the possibility of editing these settings in the config.lua file. Is it possible to implement such a feature in TFS 1.5? If so, how should I configure it? If there is another way to set this up without needing to compile, how can I do it?
  4. Website (myAAC) – I'm using the myAAC system (from the slawkens/myaac repository) and managed to install it successfully, it works without any issues. However, I'm unsure if changing the protocol to 7.6 will still keep it compatible, especially since I selected the 7.72 client during the installation. Has anyone experienced this before and could share whether switching to protocol 7.6 will affect the myAAC functionality? Do I need to make any additional changes in the configuration to ensure full compatibility with the 7.6 protocol?
I'd appreciate any experiences and suggestions that could help in the development of the server.

Thanks in advance!

Im not bit a fan nor having experince in 7.x ots but I can answer for you your third question yeah in neikro 1.5 you can edit your vocation stats such as regen, attkspd, defens, armor from data/xml/Vocation.xml

and my thoughts of switching to 7.6 could be easily done by just using otclient from removing 7.72 features like hotkey/addons feature and still use nekiro 7.72 but still you can also check other replies Im not experince as I said.

7.72 didn't have addons or hotkeys (apart from the text ones). The difference between 7.6 and 7.7 was that the latter already used packet encryption plus the client had three graphic engines. It was merely a technical update, gameplay-wise it's the same version. Addons and hotkeys came in 7.8.

Thank you for your response, I'll check how it looks from the vocation.xml side.
As for your suggestion about switching to OTc, I’ll think about it some more. Even if I decide to go with that option, I’d probably have to add or modify something in the source for the client to work with the server?
Switching to 7.6 would probably solve many issues (in terms of tools).

@kay
From what I’ve read, the update from 7.6 to 7.72 introduced some improvements related to graphics, GUI, support for DirectX and OpenGL, and an automap fix. Maybe I’ll stick with 7.72 and find an RME version for it, like this one: Release Release 4.1.2 · OTAcademy/RME (https://github.com/OTAcademy/RME/releases/tag/4.1.2).

As kay said 7.72 and 7.6 is not much of diffrence you can just use nekiro server and name it with 7.6 and nobody will notic that if you are using otclient (only saying that to make you not waste time changing protcols in source because I find it usless) so in conclusion just use nekiros engine because it is easy to use but you will find out some bugs that was mentioned here alot but the solution is given.

Thanks for the input! I think I’ll stick with 7.72 and switch to OTClient, as it seems like the easiest option. I’m just not sure which source to download for OTC. Do you have any recommendations on where I can find a good version of OTClient for 7.72?

This looks great, thank you for the source, I’ll probably use it! I was mainly looking for the CipSoft atmosphere, and I see there’s something like that. No hotkeys and no unnecessary extra stuff, which is exactly what I need.
Thanks again!

In general, I would ask that the topic not be closed or moved. I will be updating it regularly with the current progress and which stage has not been completed.
