All items are stored in memory and by cleaning they will be freed from memory so it would reduce memory usage. Probably CPU somewhat also because looking up items should be a bit faster. How much faster I cannot tell. Maybe insignificantly, maybe not.

create thousands of random items across your map with an onstartup event and look at the memory/cpu usage compared to 0 items
