Lately i've been wanting to play by myself on an OT server and play around with the settings and stuff but i am a complete beginner and the last time i downloaded a server it was probably a 7.xx version didn't have any sql or websites, it was all on a folder, you run the server.exe or something, change IP and you're in. Now you need to know sql and stuff. Can anyone point me in the right direction for the easiest, simplest server i can set up to play alone?

This should bring you far, it's a bit of a read but in essence, it's really simple even tho some of the info might be outdated.

Set some easy goals for yourself at first:
Part 1:
  • Able to Compile TFS + Client on same machine
  • Able to host a local server with XAMPP/Uniserver
  • Able to login on your own server

Part 2:
  • Enable Github workflow or figuring out one (For Windows I just use Github Desktop and be done with it)
  • Get a RME map editor you are comfortable with, nowadays a lot of AI constructed RME revisions are out there, but better to keep it clean and use a non-AI edited one to get comfy with the software and it's standard options first.
  • I highly suggest OTclient as this gives you absolute freedom in making your client look how you want it to be

Take your time, if it doesn't work, repeat your steps and try again.
