I would like to ask what's the difference between datapack and distribution

Distro: Engine
Datapack: Scripts (lua, xml)

Engine is the way some people refer to the server application; the one used to handle all the contentions of players and the "host" of the world.

how do i connect datapack with engine ?

Just add the datapack (data folder) in the same folder as your server/distro.
Make sure the datapack is ment for the server version you are using.

and make sure you set up a database server and properly configure it from the config.lua file.

This should be added in the thread for the datapack. If not, most 8.6 datapacks are for TFS 0.3/0.4 and most 10.1+ datapacks are for TFS 1.0.
But you can also just test it, if you get a huge amount of errors in your console when you start the server, you know that the datapack is made for a different server version.

You can see the version of your server when you start your server at the first line.
