Hello otlanders,
I'm writing today to let you know about my intentions and problems that are going to face me,
First, I would like to let you know I had retired for a year or more from creating open tibia servers and such because I have always failed before I started thinking about creating a simple open tibia server.
I read Leftwing's thread about making a new open tibia server and I totally agreed with it.
It's going to be simple and small then it starts getting bigger.
I plan on working alone without any teams or friends (because I don't have any and don't want any. XD), though my mapping sucks and I'm a beginner at everything (Including: Scripting, Programming, Web designing)
The open tibia server's version has to be 8.6

Problems that are likely to be facing me:
1. I don't have a dedicated and I can't afford one, I can't find another host as well because he might end up stealing my work just like before. I only own 3 laptops and their specifications are actually bad, I have no idea if it's possible to run an open tibia server on a laptop or it might overheat and explode in my face.
2. I'm a beginner at EVERYTHING and I have no idea from where to start, still I don't want my open tibia server to be "downloaded-and-run".
3. Leftwing suggested that I don't have to waste my time starting from the scratch and it helped me a lot but I still need to find a stable 8.6 distro. I can't even make my own distro because I have no experience at it these things at all.
4. I mapped a custom city and wasted a good amount of time in it, but I think most 8.6 distros items.otb I have tried differ from Remere's Map Editor 8.6 items.otb and it's frustrating me.

Please, if anyone has any answer for my problems don't hesitate to help, I'm a beginner and I want to learn. Most people just download an EVOLUTION server and add donations and win 1000$+ every month, I don't want mine to be like that so please help me out.

Excuse my language please.
Thanks in advance,
Ranyo13

1. @HalfAway and @Don Daniello provides free hosting if your server is custom and non-profit one
2. Add things, read things, try to learn with topics that have same problem as you and try to understand what were done in order to be fixed, try, try and try
3. Use 0.3.7 downgraded to 8.6
4. Change your RME items.otb for the one form your ot or vice versa

1. I saved their names and I'll pm when my project gets started.
2. I will do my best to start learning more.
3. Please explain, there's one I found: http://otland.net/threads/8-6-otserv-0-6-4-stable.218401/
Is it really stable and how do I know if it isn't?
And what is this "0.3.7" thing you mentioned?
How do I downgrade it?
(SORRY I KNOW I'M A RETARDED GUY)
4. I think I might try to fix the items.otb version check if they dont match even on the distro I mentioned above.

Thanks a lot for helping me.

He is referring to TFS version 0.3.7 not OTServ although I only see this one in the distro section http://otland.net/threads/8-60-the-forgotten-server-0-3-6-crying-damson-v8.147913/
Also, he isn't telling you to downgrade it he's telling you to use the downgraded version. (which I couldn't find)
Anyway, good luck with your server.

Now I get it, but I prefer using OTServ, the other one seems not stable.

What about OTServ? I think it's the best I could find.

the best you can do is getting premium in otland and getting the tfs from @MartyX topic, that is the best one out there, lots of 8.6 servers uses it and have a very high uptime and almost no errors

Because I'm not premium and I won't get any support or help if I needed for that.

I have another problem, I'm using this OTServ http://otland.net/threads/8-6-otserv-0-6-4-stable.218401/
And I needed the simplest AAC I could find which is ZnoteAAC but it has lots of bugs.
Which AAC do you suggest to be best for OTServ 8.6?
You won't need premium to use TFS 1.0, and just make a thread in the support section incase you run into problems, and I'm sure someone will help you.

Never used OTServ, what is it based on? TFS 0.3?

I have no idea, I tried to search it and no clue which TFS it is based on, but I think it's based on all of TFS, Naxed and Evo

Also, I'm trying to start something simple and small, TFS 1.0 will need lots of effort into it just as a start, for example, I don't even know how to get a map editor for 10.41, latest client on remere's is 9.60+ or something around that, might need some edits to make it work for 10.41 but I really need to start simple then begin upgrading to harder things as I learn more.. I hope you do understand my point, I'm not lazy, I just want it to be simple and easy as I LEARN.

There is no 10.41 OTB, use 10.35 and this map editor
http://otland.net/threads/10-50-remeres-map-editor.211040/

I would recommend you to learn TFS 1.0 because TFS 1.0 is still being developed/updated.

Okay I will listen to you although there are lots of different functions than 8.6.
2 more questions, sorry I'm being really annoying but I really appreciate your help.
1. What happens if it gets updated, do I need to replace all files again and re-start my project just because a bug was found?
2. Which AAC should I use, if it's ZnoteAAC which TFS version should I edit config.php to make it work 2.0 or 3.0?

I can't find a TFS 1.0 [10.35] officially released by Mark
This is the only one I found to be good so far:

1. If it gets updated you can just download the things that has been updated and replace it.
2. Use ZnoteAAC 1.5 from GitHub https://github.com/Znote/ZnoteAAC

Use TFS 1.0 from GitHub also: https://github.com/otland/forgottenserver
For compiled executeables (for windows) download the latest one from: http://nightlies.otland.net/
Win32 or 64bit depending on your OS.

Now I have some real work to do, TONS OF THANKS TO YOU<3
If there are more problems, I'll fix them by myself really tired of asking for help everywhere especially from you, rlly appreciate it mate thanks.

I mean from tired that I really feeeeeel lazy when doing such, but I'm not.

EDIT: Just a few steps away from starting a serious project, problem is hosting and I will sort that out, I hope and go hard-core scripting, mapping and web editing, thank you, kindly, HalfAway.
