[Discussion] The time of Aragon, calling all warriors!

You done a amazing work dude, From what I saw on the first day I entered on your server, its going up and up.
I got some advices for you:
Remove the minimap and the first quest spoiler, its RPG isnt it?
You should let the players explore the things, even the first one or you going to kill the rpg feeling on server.

Thank you Delita, glad you're liking the progress that's been made. There's a lot more to come in the future. By the way, that spoiler is just to give a glance into the perspective of the server. I don't feel like I spoiled anything to big really except the starting area where all players spawn and part of the quest. But trust me when I say, there's a lot more in the game than just that starting quest. So I'm sure people will still feel that RPG-feeling when playing.

As for the mini-map preview, it's already been posted in the mapping thread for awhile and I think people should have a look at the mini-map to show whats to come. Hopefully its not to much. Thank you for the post though, I'll make sure not to be to crazy with sneak-peaks and keep the suspense.

But does anyone have some suggestions on any new systems we should try make, or anything unique you want to see in an rpg? Post them here, all over them will be read!

Vocation balance. PLEASE maintain this. I hate having to get into a server and ask : WHATS THE BEST VOCATION ON THIS SERVER??!?!?! like 99.99999% of all Ots I've ever played. So PLEASE make it so each and every vocation is useful , and worth something in all aspects of the game , regardless if it's pvp or pve.
 
@up, of course. That is going to be our focus, every vocation should balanced and fun to play!
 
Extrodus, what about classes, what they will be?
Please tell they will be all custom in concept and so.
 
Well, there will most likely be 8 custom classes to choose from at the beginning! (4 magic, 4 melee)

They are all in-the-works and will be tested to make sure things are balanced and enjoyable. I'm going to try and add special features for each class to make them unique in some way allowing the player to specialize in the vocation and figure out how to use its abilities properly.
 
Well, I just wrote up some concepts for the vocations so I'd like to hear some feedback/suggestions.

Melee -
Warriors, will wield a shield and weapon to be a carry/tank.

Assassins, are ment to dual wield short swords and daggers as well as have a quicker attack speed but lower shielding to be noticeably weaker than warriors in tanking situations.

Range
-
Archers, will use bows/cross-bows with arrows and bolts, they can use spears but it will deal less damage than if you were a frontier. (Archers will easily be able to feltch arrows and bolts by woodcutting trees and getting wood)

Frontiers, will use spears and a shield to also be a type of carry but of course weaker than a warrior. (The max distance of spears will be set to 2-3 sqm)

Magic -
Warlocks, will specialize in undead/death spells and summoning minions/creeps to fight for them. (Rods)

Priests, will be the support/heal of the game. Focusing on healing and player support spells with secondary holy attack spells. (Staffs)

Elementalists (just an idea), will contain fire, energy, holy, ice and earth spells. The player must choose two elements to specialize in. Reason: Spells for this vocation will be upgradable for the elements chosen (Primary/Secondary). (Wands)

Shamans, will be an earth and fire specialist combing in party spells and chants. Can also summon some sorts of minions. (Staffs)

For the record, I wrote up these concepts yesterday so don't expect them to be perfect; they are just ideas. We have been focusing more on the quest/story-line and the map rather than vocations so any suggestions and constructive feedback may be used to help develop them.
 
Yeah, I'm hoping to have a lot of new sprites in the custom client for the new types of weapons (daggers/short swords, staffs, etc). For now I plan on changing 2-3 staffs that are already in the game just to test the idea of these vocations.

I'll also have to set up the wands/rods properly for each classes element.. you don't want a priest running around shooting a death element with the standard priest staffs. There of course could be a quest where the priest can get a staff that shoots death, but that's besides the point. It will definitely take some unique customizations, especially for the elementalists to work properly. But I'm hoping these can work, I like the concepts of them.

Giving this a bump to get some more feedback. Ask any questions you have and I will do my best to answer them.
 
• Melee-class based:
Warrior: On my way of thinking they're ~weird~ for me, I might be wrong, but when I see Warrior my mind links it to Barbarian;
Assassin: If they going to use two daggers or swords, they shouldn't be able to use shields, They would be like glass-cannons;
• Ranged-class based:
Archer: I guess they would use only bows and crossbow and use traps or maybe even tame monsters which might have some special effects like Hunter on WoW;
Frontier: I like the concept, they will look like a warrior with ranged attacks.. spears would have 2 range and some special ones with 3 range;

• Magic-class based:
Warlock: I actually got nothing to say about them, I like their concept make them like a death damage dots + debuff spells + summon undeads to help them;
Priest: It looks fine for me;
Elementalist: I think they should not have dark / holy spells;
Shaman: Nothing to say about them atm.

Are they definitive?

Well lets get a bump going with the updated picture of the Beta Areas minimap (75% complete).

There are going to be 5 stages that the player has to quest through before reaching/unlocking the majority of the continent to explore and quest freely and by the time they reach the main quest line/finish the 5 areas the player should be level 45-55. (You can see the full minimap in the mapping thread) The beta will consist of these 5 areas, and when the game launches the full map will be accessible.

Would love to see Tiers... it may be a copy from other servers but it is something that would make the server better. Pretty much equipment you can upgrade.

12:00 You see a Tier 3 stone. It will evolve your Tier 2 weapon into a Tier 3 weapon! You can also exchange "x amount" for a Tier 4 stone!(possibility to trade or if they will just be random drops) It weighs 2.00 oz. (example)

12:00 You see a Glory Sword (Atk:38, Def:27) It is the Glorious sword of Aragon.
12:00 You see a Glory Sword T1 (Atk:46, Def:33) It is the Glorious sword of Aragon.
12:00 You see a Glory Sword T2 (Atk:54, Def:39) It is the Glorious sword of Aragon.
12:00 You see a Glory Sword T3 (Atk:62, Def:45). It is the Glorious sword of Aragon.
