Hello, firstly i would like to say thanks for at least checking the thread.

Well as the topic i have never purchased a domain name before but now its done, the site i bought from was Cheap Domain Names Registration, Domain Transfer, SSL Certificates, Free DNS, Privacy Protection • Namecheap.com and due some tutorials i came this far:
rWkh5D.png

Well i am going to host this server at my home computer and i am not allowed to write my ip adress. Due to this: (Please don't enter IP addresses.)

Here is my question: What could i possibly write, am i at the wrong manage place or won't i be able to use a domain from Namecheap at a home computer?

The one who helps will definitely get reputation from me.

Kind Regards,
Mjmackan

That's irrelevant.

Not really.
If he hasn't got good protection, his internet can easily go down.

I suggest you to host via a hosting company, so when (if) it gets DDoS'd it won't effect your internet.

That still doesn't help him at all. He's looking for some support and you two are talking about DDoS.

I guess it's his own choice if he decides to run his server at home?

I'm giving him a tip if he is going to do it. That's all.
u got ddos protection ?xD

Its just temporary, the server will be moved to an dedicated with ddos protection later, for now i have to learn how to make this work out.
As taste said, its irrelevant but yeah thanks for the tip.

You have to use a DNS name example: example.no-ip.org or something like that.
No-IP.com - Managed DNS - Free Dynamic DNS - Managed Email - 100% Uptime Guaranteed is a good and free service to register a DNS name.

And you should use atleast 2 names (example.no-ip.com & example1.no-ip.com, and the real domain will not be pointed to your home computer directly. ("Please not that it will take up to 24 hours for changes to take effect").

I don't know if this is what you were searching for but i hope this will help. :)

Good luck!

I think the purpose of the domain he bought, is that he doesnt have to use those kinds of sites..not 100% sure tho.

@Thread

If u check use NameCheap Hosting DNS Servers those fields r still there to be filled?
I'd say, if u bought from them, the domain, u should use their servers n take advantage of other things as its described above..
If u check on Specify~, its prolly for when u got more than one domain, so u you'd use this one to redirect it or smth like that?
If its anything like no-ip, which should be, you should install something or put ur IP address somewhere so that they know where to redirect the domain u bought to the place u r hosting ur whatever.

I know some of this stuff, but as u can see, I also guessed some, hope I help at least abit :p

Oh well nothing really helped, i have already added two free DNS to the namecheap domain.
I am able to get into the free domains as you can check yourself (at least the last two) but i can't connect to http://wildone-ot.com.

Did u put ur IP address somewhere or r u using a software that points out whats ur IP?
Also, what happens when u check "Use NameCheap Hosting DNS Servers"?

I am using a software from no-ip.com that returns the haunted.hopto.org & dreamgames.hopto.org to my ip: 213.65.170.124
When i check "Use NameCheap hosting dns servers" nothing happens, but as i know it means that it points to their servers, but i want the domain to point at to my ip.

Doesnt NameCheap.com has a software like that? If it doesnt, on the website there must be some place where u can put ur IP.
I know and work abit with computers network, and I think, when they say, it uses their domain name servers, it just means, that they'll use their own servers to redirect that name to ur IP address, after all, thats basically what DNS servers do, they turn IP numbers into names.

Just to make sure its nothing else, if u try to access ur website through haunted~ or dreamgames~, does it go as it should?

Im not sure if its possible or if its even ok to say this, hope it is tho, if u could give me ur login in n pass I could run some tests here, but ofc u'd have to make sure if anything happened u could retrieve it through an email of urs.
Im trying to get some help myself with some gesior website and Im stuck for now, so I could try to help u if u r willin to that, anyway, just a suggestion.

It seems like NameCheap doesn't have a software and Haunted & Dreamgames connects just perfectly to my homepage.

I have to test around once again to see if i can find any then i'd guess i could send over my login/password.

If theres no software, try lookin up on the Control Panel of NameCheap for Manage Domains or something similar, coz on No-Ip u can use the Panel on the web browser to do that instead of the software, the software is like a plus I'd say.

I have checked almost everything and i at least think i have solved it, i am not sure at all but if it works i will tell how it was done.
