Doubting 9.6 servers?

Taluturen's server was really successful because he made an awesome advertisement.

Just shows nothing is impossible or even hard. Your motivation to do such a thing is just low.
 
Great post, now hopefully people can stop hosting 8.6 servers.
So old, so outdated, so useless, so boring.
 
Constantly updating your server and making it unique make a good server. Its client does not. Nowadays you can download open source clients and servers, rendering this thread obsolete, in irony... Welcome to 2012, whence knowledge is power.
 
Not everybody are able to code a map-tracker for their server like Talaturen, therefore they might not want to have anything after 8.6 because it requires news areas.

That's why it's always great to learn new things, such as programming.
You'll develop something nice, even maybe even make more money off of it.
 
If no one else will, why the hell not?
At least you can update your server anytime you want.

It will not, there are great sites out there to learn C++, C#, and other languages.
I've been learning C# and Java at Tutorials (Thanks Znote)
 
I got a book in swedish about 150 pages [3 books] C++ Java script and nr 3 dont remember it :/... Its all about how to script and etc!
 
Thing is, there's no 9.6 servers and no maps either, it's much easier to make a 9.54 or 8.6 server instead....

Tala probably doesn't release a 9.6 because it would maybe hurt shadowcore's players amont, his server was 9.6 since it was released which was like 2 months ago... and a distro has yet to be released even though he has it.
And people people are mostly kids here that doesn't know C++ and therefore there won't be any 9.6 servers until there's a distro released...

9.6 is available (I'm using it right now), you need to be a donator member to download it. The reason why it's not fully released yet is because it is still in development.
And of course there are maps, Remere released his mapeditor to have 9.6+ supported.

On-topic: There is always room for success on any client version. It's dependent on your knowledge of all aspects in OT, even down to why the Brazilian player quit and what you do to impact the next who logs on. Lately, all I've seen are kids who put such little effort into OpenTibia, it's a shame. I appreciate the fact that you pointed this out to those who are too naive to see it - thank you.
