Hello,

I want to extract the map from an OT Client that is not mine. I would like to do this to create community tools. Is this possible? If so, how can I do it?
I would like to extract the map in a format that can be opened in Remere's Map Editor or something similar. Extracting to .png/.jpg format is also useful.

The files available on the client are:
  • minimap.mmp
  • minimap.otpi
  • minimap.otpm
  • minimap.otps

Thank you in advance!

Ah yes, the classic 'I'm making community tools' excuse to justify yoinking someone else's hard work. Very original.

Let me guess, next you’ll be asking for their scripts ‘for testing purposes’? 🤡
At least put some effort into hiding your intentions, yepSad.

The files available on the client are:
Minimap files of RL Tibia client and OTClient do not contain information about item IDs (needed for RME). Just colors (1 of 255 colors available on minimap). As RL Tibia and OTSes don't want you to steal map easily.

Newest map tracking tool I found in google is:
It's for Tibia 9.xx-10.xx (9.61-10.79). It was used to track real Tibia map and copy it into OTSes.
It did not work by reading 'minimap' files, you had to walk into every position on map - using your high level character -, to track it.

Thank you very much for the information!

As for the other comments, I’m sorry to hear that the community has become wary due to people asking for things for free. For what it’s worth, I’m not even looking for a server myself lol. People have been stealing Tibia since it was created, so I don't really understand this false morality.

What I’m aiming to do is something similar to what tibiamaps.io/map does, but specifically for a particular OTServer. I'm not really interested in the map items, just the visual appearance of the minimap itself (the bitmap I guess).

Does the tool you mentioned support that kind of functionality? Either way, I’ll definitely take a look. Thanks again!

You're seriously out here asking how to extract someone else's map and then acting shocked people aren't welcoming you with open arms? Use common sense no one wants their work stolen, especially not by someone trying to sugarcoat it under "community tools."

If "people have been stealing since the beginning," then why do you think OTClient has encryption now? You even admit you’re not interested in the server or gameplay — just the minimap visuals. That literally proves the point: you’re here to grab something that’s not yours, and the community’s supposed to just hand it over?

If everyone thought like you, nothing original would be left. People encrypt their stuff for a reason to protect their effort from exactly this nonsense. You’re not doing anyone a favor, and pretending otherwise doesn’t make it better.

What the heck can I do with the minimap bitmap from an OTServer that doesn't use it for the community itself? I don't want city construction, spawn settings, or anything like that. I don't want to profit from this either. If that's the case, let's condemn Tibiamaps too

You seem to have forgotten that not everything revolves around personal gain or exploitation.

Your fail:

"I want to extract the map from an OT Client that is not mine"
"I would like to extract the map in a format that can be opened in Remere's Map Editor"

I've really expressed myself badly and used terms that don't even make sense. I don't even think Remere's is necessary for what I want. If I could rewrite the sentence it would be: I want to extract the bitmap from a minimap to make something similar to Tibiamaps.

If that still sounds wrong, I'd really like to understand why it sounds wrong.

Obito, no need to argue with people like that.

There are real anti-map tracker methods that work especially for CipSoft clients, and even to some extent with OTClient.

On CipSoft clients, I’ve tested it myself: if someone tries to open a map tracker, the client crashes instantly. That’s because I implemented protection directly in the server source code. It blocks how the client handles map data.

For OTClient users, it’s harder to block completely but it’s still possible. You can make it so the tracker generates a .otbm or .otmm, but when they open it, the file is either corrupted or completely empty.

So yes there are ways to stop people from stealing maps. People who know how to protect their projects are already doing it. Let the rest talk while we focus on securing what’s ours.

Ah, text created with ChatGPT. Lovely.

Yes, I used ChatGPT just to help me with the English, since I'm not very good with the language.
I wrote the text in Portuguese and asked it to translate it properly, because Google Translate often makes mistakes or makes the sentences sound weird.
