Free Internet - A Thing of the Past [seriously]

What it is: Basically it's a law that the governments of Canada, US, Most of Europe & Australia are looking at. What it means is that the ISPs are responsible for what you do online (in order to try and prevent copyright infringement). Sounds good right? WRONG.

These people are by-passing democratic society (see: communism) to pass a bill that allows them to search any digital media you have (laptop, mp3, ipod etc...) and if they find anything copyright you and your family's internet service will be shut down forever. There is also a 3-strike system which basically means if anyone claims you're doing something copyright-infringement related (it doesn't even have to be true!) you get a strike, 3 strikes your out - no internet. Forever.

This Basically puts an end to free-speech, as well as every single site which can't be monitored, such as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, 4chan, etc...

P.s. This also puts an end to all creative projects as well. (INCLUDING OTSERVERS!)

I though this had to do with somekind of free internet, as in no cost. :(

It's not communism, it's more likely the USA will become a socialistic democracy.
No one wants this, but no one does anything about it either.

Until the government puts restriction's on everything, people won't do anything, but by that time it will be too late.

wtf i'd lose my laptop, external hd, ipod, cruzer usb, cellphone, this, that, amg, etc :ninja:

I don't think this will get through anyways; but dosn't Sweden have something similar, without the 3-strike system)

This is bad it should not be allowed to be passed!, but on the off chance it does, I'll just use Ubuntu and encrypt my HHD, along with all of my media, so if they need access to any of my folders it will require a password(this can be done as an installation option, I don't know how to set it once it's installed.).
This should be stopped under the violation to freedom of speech, if they feel like there is copyright infringement issues they should learn and find a better form to stop it, not by having the ISP Companies snooping on your computer for your stuff and not just freedom of speech this is an invasion of privacy, I can understand that some do want to end piracy, but this treaty is a very exploitable thing, how? we can start by the most simplest crime...Blackmail along with extortion, there are people in the ISP who are assholes (I'm sure we all have talked to them MANY times), this treaty breeds corruption from any direction, basically any ISP Employee can have you by the balls if they find anything "out of place" in your computer and this will be a complete waste of money and this will cause hacking to emerge to a completely new plateau, basically this will do more harm to everyone than it will do good and the irony of it is, that they still wouldn't be able to come close to stop piracy, piracy can only be stopped if all music, video, software and OS becomes free and open sourced, how? well you can't steal what is free, sure this will deal a HUGE blow to companies everywhere, but maybe that will turn all of this "business BS"(I do understand business) and turn into a passion for doing this, most artist do what they do because of passion for it, same comes for people who write softwares, most started because they just loved making something new or likes people to be satisfied or contempt with something they made and it was like that until this industrialized business come along and corrupted the whole passion, now you hear music that makes NO sense at all(lyric wise), same goes for those who program now they make lots of programs that are only more user friendly and more useless, I mean back then only people who where "smart" could operate a computer(I'm not saying there is nothing wrong with simplifying it for people less [Insert that word here]), the point here is that they only care about how many people use it while sacrificing efficiency, anyway give your thoughts about this.

These people are by-passing democratic society (see: communism)

Actually, it's called farcism. Communism itself can be quite liberal when it comes to these things. Basic the laws is without any effect, it won't stop the crime because you will join up on encrypted streams with a preshared key and the ISP and the govement can't see shit. The real criminals will do the exact same, but common folks who don't do that will be taken by this.

Also, when 90% of the population is break a law, then it's not a crime! When most of the population breaks a law then the law is wrong, simple as that.
