I dont know maybe, i just found this really funny ^^ And yes you might be right..Like other hardware doesn't fail, if that happens after release, then it might be a problem, but during its unveiling, I don't find it THAT shocking, wasn't the XBox360 or the PS3 that also froze in a presentation in E3 a couple years back?

here are my two cents, I think it will fail, why? for starters, it's a huge late start, the tablet industry is dominated by two Giants, Apple and Android, Windows has had a bad reputation with ARM(I'm assuming this device is not ARM-based), I mean look at their fail-phone 7, I will assume and regardless if it ain't, that it will be an x86 or x86_64 architecture. I will buy it and make a sacrilege by installing Android(if x86) or Linux. I mean if it's going to be $200 a piece, I would really do something better with it.
About hardware freezing? Perhaps OS? anyways, my toaster froze when I plugged it in for the first time(true story), shit happens.
