im currently designing the combat and skill system for a custom rpg project and would love to get the community's feedback on how weapon progression should feel
in traditional tibia we have the classic sword, club, axe skills, where sword skill covers both one-handed and two-handed variants however i am considering expanding this to make combat more tactical
im thinking about splitting the skills intodistinct categories (1 hand axe, 2 hand axe, etc) however to prevent endless grinding, when you fight using a specific weapon a percentage of the experience flows into related skills (use 1 hand axe and you gain 30% of training into others one hand and two hand axe)
keep in mind i added new weapon types like staves, daggers, wands
