Global save or section save? how is better?

hello, i'm starting with a new server, and i have a doubt.
How save system is better? global save ( save every day in certain hour and server shutdown) or sectional server save ( save every 1 hour but server not shutdown)
There is a problem if server not shutdown? if server stay open a lot of days without shutdown?

Sometimes you may have a small bug that leaks memory.

It may take a while before it eats enough RAM to cause PROBLEM

Then the OS kernel kills your server process, and any progress your players had made that wasn't save is lost. And then you have angry players. Very angry players.

Nightly shutdown is a small insurance policy against such things, especially if you don't have robust QA Testing resources before deploying new feature code, because your server could be flawless and then one day you introduce a new thing...
