Hey there people! You guys heard that google is going to test 1gb internet and they are planning that about 500,000 people will be able to get it :P. Anyone know when this is gonna happen? Wow imagine that, 1gb/s haha :P
 
No ISP gives you a dedicated 1gbit for less then like 1k USD / month. This is how ISPs does it, get 100gbit and sell it to 10k people. Reason is that 10people will max the line, 1/10 will be online at a time, and so it ads up. Some put even more people on it too. Selling 1gbit lines gets pretty cheap now.
 
I'm just asking what you guys think about this :P? I mean pretty soon internet speed will turn into GBs, just like Mhz turned into GHz :P
 
Oh I think eventually everything will be 3d, touch screen and cheap as hell. Our kids will have supercomputers that we will only be jealous of.

But about the net, I think it's gonna be gay cause my neighborhood, no wait, my state prolly won't even support for a while...Missouri is always the last to get everything >.<
 
Haha I'm kinda mad too, the most I cant get is .70 mbps in PHILADELPHIA! I read verizon is trying to achieve speeds of 1gb/s too, well how about they make FIOS available to all the major cities and smaller ones too, because I don't think Philadelphia is a small town now is it?
 
Nopez! Kansas City is small, and hell even St. Louis...so I know...we will get everything late/last.
 
Yea that sux, they are trying to achieve 1gb/s speed while so many of us don't even have 1mb/s speed, its ridiculous.
 
Yea but America is behind in internet speed. Theres some old lady with 40gb/s speed and they are planning to update her to 100gb/s speed soon. Imagine that, thats crazy haha :P
 
In norway you can get like 20mbit in places with 100 people at the moutain, same goes with sweden.

Didn't even know that you can't get 1mbit line in a town with 1.5 million people in a medium modern country...! Thats a shame.
 
Haha yea, the internet companies in the U.S really need to step up so that everyone can have fast internet like even 5 or 15 mbps. I mean the most i can get in Philadelphia a large city and well known city is 2.2 download and .70 upload, I mean really cmon.

That's beacuse US net is not based on the same cable system as Swe ;) that's why
 
Sweden don't have ADSL and stuff, they started to dig fiber while the most of the world wanted to keep the old tech alive (and it was way cheaper). But they got 50mbit in japan over copper (VSDL?), and ~25mbit (ADSL2+ or something in norway). Maximum over fiber is 80gbit per pair.

We got both ADSL & VDSL over here :p and max with ADSL is 24 Mbit down adn 2 Mbit down

If you live in a "house" it's mostly common to have ADSL because it cost over 10 000 SEK to dig fiber cable to your house ;)
but if you live in an "apartment" you almost always have fiber, 100/100 from banhof costs 299 SEK/month (just bought it to my new apartment ;) )

We even got 56kbit modems left! :O my grandfather just changed this christmas from 56 kbit to an Mobile internet
 
14.4kbit modem is rox tho. Enough for IRC and all!

I can dig fiber and get 90mbit routed trough sweden for 999NOK (Thats like 120EUR / month) +150NOK per month in like 5 years for the damn fiber. In japan, I can get 100mbit line for half the price that sweden got.
