Hello guys, I would like to make some maps in my spare time for everyone to use.
But i'm not sure which SPR and items etc to use to make it compatible with most peoples server. I would like to use 10.98, but I want to create things that people can easily add to their server without any complications. If anyone can inform me the best way to do this I would be grateful and hopefully can make some new exciting areas for people to explore.
Thanks,

I would say that 10.98 would be safe pick few years ago. Plain version 8.6 is limited and it's hard to make something good looking there (if you want something more than Zao and Yala vibes).
Personally I can say that there are missing free custom places/maps for versions higher than 10.98. If you take higher version and still place objects from <10.98 then it will be easy to import - no need to worry. It's easier to stick with common dats / spr or at least available here.

Few words about using it for custom servers: if your pieces of map won't be strongly mixed between every possible tibian version (from Ank Tombs, through Yala up to Issavi) then it will be most likely usable for other mappers / server owners.

You can check this topic to get familiar with 13.x spr and dat.
