Hello guys, I am not sure if I am in the righ section of the forum, so I would kindly ask moderators to move the topic to an appropiate place where neccessary :)

Just wanted to ask someone experienced, how many players maximum will my PC handle on a 7.6 SQL Real Map server?

My specs are as follows:

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth P67
CPU: Intel i5 2500k OC 4.7GHz
RAM: 16 GB DDR3 Quad Channel 1866MHz
GPU: GeForce 680GTX
HDD: 1TB 7200RPM Samsung
Connection: 50mb

Oh, thats a kinda awesome set-up you got over there.
I'm pretty sure you can handle easly around 100~ Players(and alot more) on that rig.
Depending on the map size and connection upload tho.

Kind Regards,
Wezzlan!

Why people keep saying "you might handle 100+..."

The only thing that matters here the most is the upload speed, you'll need a good 1 Gbps VPS upload speed provider... You can handle over 800 players on that rig. CipSoft computers from 2005 were even terribler than the one you've right now.

I said it because no one could ever answer that question.
And of course a great connection with great upload speed is the most important.

And @Ezzz
Why people keep saying "you might handle 100+..."

You just said it yourself..

You can handle over 800 players on that rig.

Without mcs and spoofers you may handle 700 or more players without problem.
Why do you want to host server on home connection anyway? Aren't electricity bills more expensive than dedicated server cost? and some of them offers hardware firewalls and software to support your server.
Also: I'd buy SSD 128 or 240 and reinstall windows on that - It will make your server faster if all ot files will be on ssd

Yeah, i am planning to buy ssd 120 gb, Where i will install Windows and put my server files there. Also wanna get 100mb net with fast upload. If i would do that, dedicated server would still be better option?

I have no experience on hosting local servers, therefore I can't tell you. Dedicated server is sometimes safer due to ups technologies, hardware firewall, etc.
dunno how to register domain in dnses(as eg. servername . com), but if you want people to use servername . no-ip . ~ or your numeric ipv4; hosting server in home shouldn't make problem.
Only problems you may experience is restart due to electricity failure and ddoses if you don't use hardware firewall(and data hacking if you leave some "doors" for noobish hackers)

Yet still, the bad thing is, that I share my connection with 4 of my housemates and some of them like to stream movies (usually porn), which causes the server to lagg. Will 100MB connection sort it?
